The final attack is against Billotte on the Channel Coast. Its a 5:1 +1 and, with the armour having moved south, the choice of table is with the French. They choose the Assault Table to try and hurt the Germans (but the Fractional Odds make this a 7:1 attack)....

.....its an 8(9) anyway so it does not make any difference. The last French fighter is destroyed, having been overrun...

Finland was completely conquered by the USSR.

That was interesting... I did not leave a unit in Paris so could not declare Vichy...

That's probably one of those rules my gaming group never particularly enforced (leaving a land unit in Paris, that is). I guess it's good the computer is?

Also, with respect to the Marat's flag, I think the centrepiece looks distorted because of the way the flag is being blown by the wind or drooping from gravity. But I'm sure it's the star with hammer and sickle.

Yes there's no complaints from me - that is the rule and I failed to adhere to it - so I just have to get on with it.

Yes, I certainly cannot find any version of the ensign with a different centrepiece.

That is interesting. The Germans can break the pact with the Soviets. Presumably this is something to do with Finland?

There is just one ground strike as the Germans attempt to remove Georges, currently holed up in Rouen. The French fighter responds and will fight it out with a Bf-109.

The Allies to throw first:

Round 1
19 - DX PX The Germans lost one of their 5-quality fighters (forgot to record whether the pilot was lost [&:]).
6 - DX The French suffer the dame fate as the Potez is destroyed - the pilot survives.

It was all a bit of a waste of time for the Germans - they lose a good fighter and then the Stuka rolls an 8...

It's not worth Ground Striking with aircraft factors equal to the defending land combat factors. If you add those aircraft tactical factors to a land attack on the unit, they raise the odds level by one column automatically. Which is about the same as a +1 you get for a successful Ground Strike, which had only a 50% chance of success in this case, and used up an Air Mission; which Ground Support does not.

The Germans fan out all over France and dash for the south. Supply is something of an issue while the HQ catch-up, but where the French cannot counter attack, the Germans put up with a little temporary out of supply.

There will be just the one attack - against Georges this turn.

Yes but hopefully for sensible reasons:

1. The BEF are there to be a pain in the bum, but they are limited to what they can do (essentially stopping the Germans from taking the mickey). They also have naval gunfire support (a fleet stayed at sea)
2. The Germans therefore need to screen the Allied forces.
3. If they want to attack - the Germans need some decent aircraft, HQ and land units to get the required odds.
4. All the troops used for this - are troops not heading south at full speed to take out Toulouse before it gets too strong.
5. If they continue to hang around after I have them surrounded, I may attack but only if it makes sense.

The Germans attack Georges and, although they throw a 4, the odds were 7:1 so the HQ is destroyed. I think this should have been 5:1 (HQ Support succeeded) but I have a query in the main forum to figure out if this is a bug or me getting it wrong.

Mmmmm starting to feel a little hacked off now as the Allies. The Soviets occupy the Baltic States and guess what - its another US Entry Chit removed.....

The BEF evacuate northern France - they made be required in southern France/Spain shortly.

A French and RN Fleet put to sea in the Western Mediterranean.
