Nice work on the Canberra Australia result. that is substantive and will sting.

You are running for the trees in China, aren't you?

Nice hit in So Pac. Japan can't have the KB everywhere, so keep taking advantage while you know where it is!

Thanks, sadly I lost track of the KB 2 turns ago. It was in the middle of the SCS so it will be a couple of days before it can interfere with something important. I´ll have to step up search in the area.

Yeah, while doing the stuff in China I have "Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills" running in the background! [:D]

Maybe after your next serious lost in China you can play "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult.

Or "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen.

Three day update!

------------------------
DEI
------------------------

Relatively calm here after PB fell. The invasion TF spotted earlier seems to be heading to Tarakan and not Bakilpapan. They should land unopposed here next turn.

Hong Kong is still holding out! [X(] Will be short lived though and next turn should topple them over.

Ground combat at Hong Kong (77,61)

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 20567 troops, 265 guns, 179 vehicles, Assault Value = 486

Defending force 6256 troops, 119 guns, 64 vehicles, Assault Value = 99

Japanese adjusted assault: 222

Allied adjusted defense: 213

Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 0

Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), leaders(-), morale(-), experience(-)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:
439 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 14 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 16 disabled
Engineers: 1 destroyed, 6 disabled
Guns lost 3 (1 destroyed, 2 disabled)
Vehicles lost 2 (1 destroyed, 1 disabled)

Allied ground losses:
693 casualties reported
Squads: 14 destroyed, 12 disabled
Non Combat: 21 destroyed, 17 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Guns lost 5 (3 destroyed, 2 disabled)
Vehicles lost 5 (3 destroyed, 2 disabled)

Richard keeps bombing Singers but the flak is taking its toll even when flying at 15k. Glad I got those heavy AA guns in time!

KB is still missing from the radar. 6 days gone now. I bet he moved them North of Formosa and they are now moving outside Allied search down to SOPAC to make sure he stays on schedule down there. Have to be careful he doesn´t jump the Canberra/Austria TF or anything moving in CENTPAC.

------------------------
CENTPAC
------------------------

Quiet here. No more invasions for now. If it stays that way in 3-4 months I might start to move some stuff in.

------------------------
China
------------------------

As usual most of the action is here. My first attempt to save the cut of Corps didn´t work. Bombers didn´t take off but the opposition turned out to be a lone BDE.
Ground combat at 84,55 (near Nanchang)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 19952 troops, 76 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 642

Defending force 6279 troops, 38 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 180

Allied adjusted assault: 367

Japanese adjusted defense: 282

Allied assault odds: 1 to 1

Combat modifiers
Defender: leaders(+)
Attacker:

Japanese ground losses:

86th Chinese Corps
32nd Group Army

Defending units:
11th Ind.Mixed Brigade

FAT/DIS was still in single so I attacked the next day. Despite the bombers flying I still got only a 1-1. But on the 3rd day the attack came through.
Ground combat at 84,55 (near Nanchang)

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 18883 troops, 76 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 516

Defending units:

Its not going to change the war but it feels good getting some small jabs in.

Richard really don´t like me operating my air force in China. Luckily I sensed this and pulled out just before 100 Zeroes swept the skies.

Oh, and the idiot award of the month goes to me. Guess who forgot to fly in some troops to Ankang...
Ground combat at Ankang (82,42)

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 438 troops, 3 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 28

Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0

Japanese adjusted assault: 23

Allied adjusted defense: 1

Japanese assault odds: 23 to 1 (fort level 1)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Ankang !!! [8|]

Combat modifiers
Attacker: shock(+), leaders(-)

Assaulting units:
1st Raiding Rgt /1

Bloody stupid and can´t believe I forgot that! I have some 300 AV around 10 days out. Bombers will try and close the AF tomorrow to prevent more troops being flown in. This time I have a lot more troops on the road though and should be able to divert some to deal with the paras if the 300 AV isn´t enough.

There is quite a good AAR somewhere about someone who did something like that!

It didn't end well.[;)]

AA is a great tool early on. Don't be afraid to burn AA units when you will lose forward properties and then rebuild them and recycle.

Yeah, learned that lesson against Tom. Spending a lot of PPs to buy out restricted AA units and getting them to OZ.

It looks like Richard has really improved his China game since we played. I burned him pretty good early on with the Chinese, even almost captured Canton after he took Hong Kong. I know it was a source of frustration for him.

I wouldn't worry too much about Ankang yet. He took it with paratroops - so what? He still has to march there.

Yeah, this time I got a lot more troops on the road itself. Around 1000 AV and some more coming in from time to time. When Tom dropped at Ankang he was already pushing hard for this road with a multiple ID attack backed up by a lot of armor. Richard is far from the road itself and I have a good 600 AV in place with level 2 forts already. Behind it is another 300 AV or so resting and ready to rotate in if needed. So I´m not really worried at the moment at least.

Keywords being "for the moment"! [:D]

He did cut a supply route there, so you should push him off the road. I wonder if he decided to drop there because he saw how much it got to you vs. MrKane.

That is true. Should be able to pull through the woods straight from Chungking though. No doubt he has looked at what Tom did. But he is also pushing in the south.

Might not be a serious push though? He knows I pulled almost everything in the south towards Sian to try and stop Toms advance. This 2 ID push might be intended to lock down troops in the south rather then a serious attempt on conquest...

I guess I will know once the artillery and armor catches up with the different pushes. Where the armor and arty is will be his main advance.

Only managed to get a turn done per day due to time differences. (Hence the questions on AoW3)

A small xAKL fleeing the DEI was hit by bombs from Betties. Normal stuff for this time. [:D]

------------------------
China
------------------------

Richard ambushed my bombings of Ankang. Due to range I can neither sweep nor provide escort. 11 Chinese bombers lost. Will have to stand down until I can sweep/escort.

Nothing else to report. [X(] And no screen either because I forgot to take a screenshot and I´m too lazy to open the game again. [:'(]

B-17Ds - Don't overlook that these are the longest legged of the B-17s and can hit targets in China from Ledo (which is a lot easier to keep supplied than China). I think they can reach as far as Sian from Ledo. Just an option to consider. [;)]

Have a drink for me....it's only 1:30pm (EST) here.
