Chairman Mao

Post by warspite1 »

So, with the aid of some friendly dice - weather and combat - and at the risk of leaving the Nationalists alone, I have taken all the Communist cities except Urumchi and Kashgar. Given that the Communists only have one HQ, does that effectively put them out of the game? Or is there someway they can use Nationalist cities to reinforce? I assume its the former?

Urumchi and Kashgar are nationalist cities so it seems that Mao is out of luck.

In order to get back after the last communist city is lost they needed a Communist unit on the map that could be used to gain a Communist city.

Really? I could have sworn Urumchi was Communist..... Oh dear - that puts a real dampener on things - although I suspected they were effectively out of the game anyway given the distance, the lack of railroad and the shortage of HQ...

Yes. It is too late for your game, but if the Communists see that the Japanese are making an all-out attack on them, they should build their CAV division (1 BP!), and when they get it, send it south to take some Nationalist cities. Chengtu might be a nice place to start. Once it has captured the first city, giving the Communists a place to put reinforcements and supply, it should keep going, so that it at least threatens to take another city. Doing this will keep the Communists on the map unless the Chinese lose almost everything.

For anyone who doubts the value of this game - once its working as designed - then don't. There is SO much to learn, so many strategies to explore, the replayability is infinite - it's just one amazing game.
