No attacks from ASW planes

Post by colt6900 »

None of my Japanese ASW planes which I have two in three layers to in order to ensure defense have ever attacked
and Allied submarine. They constantly spot them but never attack, in some cases off of Japan for example I have
three stacks of squadrons numbering about 40 planes covering the same area south of Tokyo. I have them set to bombs
forward torpedo planes and of course all others default the bombs. But in 2 1/2 months of play I do not recall any
attack occurring. The only method I've been able to use that works are ASW sub chasers and patrol boats.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Not a bug.

Pilots need good ASW skill levels.  Several threads address this issue.

Don't use IJN planes to cover HI ports, that's the Army's job. Lilys work well. I use 5k alt., others go lower.
I always get lots of hits. Shorten the max range if the subs are showing up close. When the search arc turns white
you'll get some kills.

edit: don't wear the guys out, If they're doing ASW week after week I wouldn't go over 50 percent on patrol, but you can mix training in.

one more edit: If the pilot skill level isn't at least 60 on ASW you won't get good results. Train them to 70 before putting them to work, then don't bother with more training.
