Visual distortion in Unit Status pane

I get a strange distortion in the Unit Status pane on the right. After several seconds of play, the pane will become distorted (see screenshots below). Alternatively hovering the mouse over controls such as the Sensors button or Mission link in the Unit Status pane will create a distortion.
Selecting a new unit will render a 'good' Unit Status pane for it, but within a matter of seconds it becomes distorted again.
DxDiag is attached. I am running Steam build 570.

In an attempt to troubleshoot the issue further myself, I tried changing my Windows theme from Aero to Basic, and even then to Classic. No dice.

Honestly the sound issue is not that big of a deal to me. I'll probably stick to the Steam version as its delivered for simplicity; that said, I appreciate the nudge int he right direction!
