HELP!!
I have a French INF and two aircraft arrived as reinforcements but with nowhere to be placed. Is there anyway I can destroy them because otherwise the game is stuck...

Can you try and mail me the save and I will look at it. Or you can post it here.

RE: HELP!!
Turn on the flags to see which major power controls which hexes. Nice might be a viable arrival hex - unless there is an Axis unit with a ZOC west of Nice. Another possibility might be Corsica (?).ORIGINAL: warspite1

No, I turned on the flags and tried every hex that is French controlled in Metropolitan France and Corsica.

RE: HELP!!
I looked at your build history a little and what you reported was a little confusing there in the AAR, which is totally OK, but was a clue about what might have happened in your reinforcement phase. In Nov/Dec 39 you list the French as saving a spare BP. Yet you also mention removing a French CV plane from the build. I think MWiF could have had trouble with this perhaps? Or even if the CV plane was built correctly and delivered four turns later, and had a pilot available….placing a CV plane in this situation might have been the hardest thing for the program to check all possibilities to advance the phase. The French don't have a CV to put it on, or a ZoC-less port to put it in. But they do have a city where it could appear, but is not a port…. ???

The spare build point would have been used the following turn. I never actually check this but assume the program adds the saved BP to the next turn's total. The reason I assume this is that the saved BP marker always disappears from the map the following turn (I should check - I will add to the ever growing list).
Early in the game I removed the French Carrier Air that it starts with and got a pilot.
The Carrier Air that arrived as a reinforcement this turn was not built - it was simply a case of putting a spare pilot with a spare plane (same with the flying boat) - all land based fighter having been destroyed.
The program has no problem putting Carrier Air onto the map - and it correctly asks if you want it on a CV if there is a CV in the hex you are putting the unit on.
No, I think for whatever reason, the program has just got confused about the INF and the two aircraft (there was no valid hex for any of them)..... annoying - but at least there is a work around so not fatal. But its another example of why I think moving to netplay is premature...

RE: HELP!!
I think that the two aircrafts can be placed in Lyons.

Right - found the answer.....
The Carrier Air can be placed in Lyons. If you try this, then the message comes up as per below.
If you try and place the infantry first it simply does not let you (rightly - because there is nowhere for it - ditto for the floatplane (which has to be placed on the coast/lake)). But the trouble with this is it can leave a player thinking the game cannot now advance as I have an infantry I cannot place and cannot destroy.
So the program works - but you have to go through all those that can be placed before it gets to tell you that some cannot.
Great once again to know that the program works [&o] - albeit to a newbie its not as intuitive as it should be and can leave you thinking the game is stuck.

No - its not really a bug. Its more cosmetic. I would imagine to change it would need quite a bit of work i.e. what order the units were attempted to be placed would depend what message is brought up and there could be many, many units. So whilst its not ideal, I think its liveable with at the moment.

This is all true but I do not think that it is your call to do. I think it is up to Steve how to prioritize this. If anything at all should be done or not.ORIGINAL: warspite1

And do remember if someone think that this is a fatal bug then so will others and they will be annoyed, angry and disappointed. And it might be to complicated to fix it but it might be done in a couple of minutes. I have no idea but Steve do.

RE: HELP!!
The program is dealing with the possibility that there is only room for one of two units which are arriving as reinforcements, where either unit can be placed in a hex. So the player chooses which one to place on the map and then the program states that the other will arrive next turn.ORIGINAL: warspite1

Variations on this occur often during the game, particularly as countries lose their home cities and fewer locations are available in which reinforcements can arrive. Militia units, with specific hexes designated for where they can arrive, run into this problem a lot.Until the player has "filled up" all the aarrival hexes, the program doesn't know which units will be arriving next turn.
