When there are too many messages they never show up to reply?

You can see the messages in the message summary but a lot of them never show up to be able to actually reply to them? No popups and no messages on the right side of the screen. Am I missing something? I accepted one mutual defense request but did not get to deny/accept like 7 others?

It's really annoying. How this can be solved? I mean I have this problem since the 1.9.5.7. updates.

Not really solving the problem, but you can simply go to the diplomacy screen to reply to those messages.

This problem occurs also if an empire asks to honor mutual defence pact several times /beeing attacked by many empires) in the same moment I say yes to one request and don't be asked for the others.
So the game is unplayable with mutual defence pacts.

Welcome to the world of problems that matrix has to solve with such a huge game.. I love this game.. but mid-late game it's near impossible to play because of such disasters.. too many ships, too many colonies, too much advice, too much to hold your fort down, defend, even attack.. respond to 50 messages of gifts.. etc..

Late game, especially during war - you REALLY need to turn off notification of all but the most critical notifications (for me it's attacks incoming to colonies or bases only). Everything else is just fluffy distractions drawing you away from the PEW.

I once forgot to turn it off last weekend after queueing up 1500 ships at once. LOL... they all completed roughly the same time, the game had issues to begin with what with the galaxy all fighting eachother and whatnot, but this made my PC choke for a few minutes.

I found that holding spacebar for a few seconds to pause lets the message queue sort it's self out somewhat. Repeat this a few times till message volume reduces.
