I always keep the highest version number for VC C++ runtime libs 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012. I use windows uninstall to remove older versions when a game installs an old version.

I am by no means a .NET expert in keeping up with MS changes. I think you only need .NET 4.5 which should be compatible and handle older versions. .NET 1.1 might be a special case, but that version was deprecated. I only have .NET 4.51 installed right now on my machine. I believe .NET 4.5 does create framework directory under \windows for the older versions, which you should not touch.

K, thanks. I'll do some testing and like I said if a game starts to crash or won't load I can just reinstall it right? It should reinstall any old files I had deleted during the process. My computer needs a good clean sweep anyways. I wish temporary internet files would delete when the browser is closed like it says it will do in the advanced setup but most of them still remain when I close the browser and don't delete until I reboot the system.

Assuming you have a 64-bit windows versions, you will need to keep two copies the MS C++ libs, x86 (or blank) and x64 runtime versions as each of them are different. x86 is the 32 bit version and x64 is the 64 bit version.

Like right now I am uninstalling MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistrib version 8.0.56336, since the latest version is 8.0.61001, or the highest version on my computer anyway.

If you do notice problems, and you can always run the install for the game MSVC redistrib and it will install again. Just about every game installs an old version it seems. I uninstall older versions because I have seen problems in a couple games with multiple older versions out there.

Hello All,

I just thought I'd update you all on what we have done in house. I've tested a number of our games, both old and new and from a variety of game engines and there are no issues yet. Also, the version is only a preview, so things may change and things we have tested may stop working at release.

However, Windows 10 superficially seems to be Windows 8 with a Windows 7 skin (obviously there are changes under the hood), so we don't see many problems anyway. Also, any games which are supported with developers then we will be able to get them patched and working anyway, as we always try to support the games where possible.

I have now installed 33 of the Matrix games I own and they work fine.

The new OS is different, with a much more generous approach to multiple windows.

Advanced Tactics Gold works fine.

testing my back catalogue atm build 6.4.9841.0 / or 9841 for those that have used previous beta's of windows 10...

no problems so far also testing MS DX 12 early access...

will amend and post finding as soon as it's complete unless a newer build comes out before it's done, as it's not a high priority tbh as there's plenty of time before it's RC1

All the early indicators look good [:)], I guess we'll have to wait for the final release!

bit of hype tbh as it can be turned off, and it shouldn't be used as a main o/s as yet, its for testing only so you shouldn't be checking your bank account or anything else on it for that matter, so no big brother, just looking at what users are using it for etc

and its free[X(]

once it's been turned off, there is no call back, plenty of forum info everywhere about it tbh, plenty also of scaremonger as well.

it's a feature for info gathering about what and who is using the preview and what type of apps they load and use, plus reports errors and hardware etc, nothing that I'd be bothered about anyway...

and nobody forces anyone to use it, it's says if you agree to the terms etc, if not don't use, there's every ones choice, it's that simple

Zak, where is the Control/Alt/Delete button? I heard that you don't have to press all 3 to access the Start Task Manager. [:)]
