RE: 18 Days in May
It's been a hectic day. IRL that is. I would have had this campaign finished today. It was more of a testbed than anything else. Don't get me wrong. It has been fun. I'll will be playing this again after certain adjustments, especially to the Belgian replacement rate is made.
Not many people want to play at around 40% strength for too many missions that is.
On of the things that I was testing was a potentially useful oddity/bug? in one of the campaign files.
First I will refer you to the image on post 18. Note the date on the header. May 15, 1940. Next I will refer you to the image on post 20. Note the header is cropped out.
Here is the full screen shot. Note the map is different, with a different setup. One thing is the same. The date.

RE: 18 Days in May
It appears but further testing is needed to confirm that more than one mission can be played on the same day. I don't have the time at the moment and wont until next week some time to get back to this.
It's moving time. Time to pack up and head west. About 75 miles that is to a area that has a better hospital that can more effectively treat my problems with having strokes. In the last two weeks alone I have had 3 T.I.A.'s or mini strokes. I usually recover from these within a day but better treatment is needed for the underlying symptoms.
Enough of my problems. For every silver lining there is a grey cloud around it.
Again more testing is needed to confirm but it appears that the Campaign history file will only record the last battle you fought on any given day.

RE: 18 Days in May
Also what I have not tested for is make sure this oddity/bug is not a continuous loop. Once you put it in place the date stays the same until you remove it.
That will have to wait until Sunday at the earliest.
Bis später alle! Tchüßle!!

RE: 18 Days in May
Tuesday turned out to be the earliest I could get back to a semblance of a normal life. Still some work to do complete my move but now I have time to get back to the important stuff like turning Panzers in burning hulks with grenades from my Bicyclists[:D]
The little oddity I noted, unfortunately is static. Unless you want to keep playing on the same date you have to change it manually, so it is of no use to a non coder like me. [:(]
Time to move on to the next mission.

RE: 18 Days in May
I have to defend against an Armored Break through this time. Visibility favors the enemy. The bunching up of vp favors me. My T-13's will go hunting artillery.
Would like to upload an image but it's saying a 321 kb image is to large. WT?
Tried twice. It wont upload right now. Saying file is too large. Could someone else try and upload an image?

RE: 18 Days in May
Achieved a satisfactory rating for this one. I was hoping for better performance from my 75's in the bunkers. No such luck. Infantry did most of dirty work with a bit of help from the T-13's
Had the Germans not had such luck killing my Commanders and Battalion HQ's with air attacks.....
The way it goes.

RE: 18 Days in May
Another Armored breakthrough! No AT weapons. No T-13's on board to start. Only saving grace is two pill boxes.
Maybe a screenie this time? nope file is just 306 K but the server is saying too large. What gives?
Could someone look into the upload feature please? Tried to upload a 68 k file and the server said it was too large. And yes they were .jpg's

Counter attack by my heroic T-13's. One more Company of these bad boys and it wouldn't even be a contest!
Back to the file too large. [:(]

Yay we have screens back![:D] Meeting engagement this time. Way too much open terrain for Bicycles to be any use.
Lets see what happens.

RE: 18 Days in May
Een Ramp vor ons.

RE: 18 Days in May
This mission is a wash out. Turn 9 of 15 and my poor Bicyclist still haven't reached any of the objective hexes that are now more than likely occupied by fully supplied Panzers. Not going to get my troops slaughtered for little to no reward.
Take the poor rating and try again.

RE: 18 Days in May
When I see roads like that in a randomly generated DCG map, before starting the scenario, I will pause, load the map into the map editor, and tweak here and there. (Another favored tweak: fill in forests and other terrain, so as to be not so scattered and isolated.) As decent as the randomly generated maps are, they can be improved through pre-game manual tweaking. There's no rule against doing that, and IMO it makes for a more plausible game.ORIGINAL: Tidavis

RE: 18 Days in May
Got a delaying action for the next mission. Soft ground, heavy rain and only 4 hex visibility. Most everything I have is on the left flank except for my T-13's. Going to shoot and scoot and hopefully pick of some Panzers and make this one a contest.
As to the random generated maps. I just take them as they come. There could be no roads at all.

Guessed one right for a change[:D] The T-13's on the left wing have done some good work with some clean up help from a bunch of guys wearing funny looking helmets[:D]

To be continued when I can post screens again. Sorry folks.

Uploads must only work after I take my meds.[:D] Got a medal for that one and a whole lot of scrap metal to collect afterwards.[:)]

RE: 18 Days in May
Next mission is a highway clearing. Nothing but two Companies of Infantry on board to start. Artillery comes on too far away to be useful in the Anti Tank role. Not with all this mud and being drug by wagons.
T-13's won't show up till way after the battle has been decide.
Not a A-T weapon in sight.[:(]
It would appear that my uploads are being redirected to the delete file process. I wonder why?
So no screen shots. A bit of a shame because this really is a interesting DCG. It does give a taste of some of the despair that the Belgian Soldiers must have felt facing a vastly more prepared foe.
One of the aspects I think I'll add is some of the local Fortress Units that were present on the border, in the Ardennes, and in the Liege Fortress Sector.
Having some encased Artillery to place on board might be a bit of fun.
So far in nine missions. 2 poors, 4 satisfactorys, and 3 oustandings. 2 level 5 medals and one level 4. I would say that achieving a level 1 medal would be all but impossible on any difficulty level except easy.

For some unknown reason I can no longer post any kind of files. Nothing. You can find them here as soon as I can get my poor cowardly unadventurous head organized[:D].
