RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
I'd like to request the Russian Mig-29KUB Fighter/Trainer for use aboard the Admiral Kuznetsov.

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/mig-29k.htm
Also, I recently saw this photo and would like to have the KH-31PD added to the loadouts available for the T-50 Pak Fa.

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
I think I just spotted a bug in build 570's database. The ready time for the maritime surveillance loadout for #2779 CH-148A Cyclone helicopter is set to 6 hours, which is both much longer than normal for these loadouts, and longer than the 4 hours ready time for the ASW loadouts for the same helicopter.
RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
And I'd like to make a couple of requests:
Denmark
Please add the CL-604 maritime patrol aircraft. References:

*http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/ ... 4%20MPA%22
*http://www.spyflight.co.uk/604mma.htm
(This would be useful for a Canada vs Denmark scenario I'm considering, as well as being a rather active asset: http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?o ... Itemid=233)
South Africa
Three or four of the South African Navy's Warrior Class fast attack boats have been retained as patrol boats, but with modifications to their electronics and the SSMs deleted. Their characteristics are:

*http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?o ... Itemid=106

It's not clear whether the ships have one or two 76mm guns...
Could you please add this variant of the Warrior class?

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
I found a low priority change to the database:
DDG-1000 Zumwalt does not have over the side torpedo tubes and does not carry SM-6.
As of right now they will carry the SM-2Z (a modified SM-2MkIIIB) that might change in the future.
Also, there was a recent change and instead of the 57mm guns she will have two 30mm just like the ones
on LPD-17.
Also,
I know this may be difficult but are there plans to give midflight waypoints to cruise missiles in the future?
I can take control of a TLAM and fly it in another direction but not hit anything. The ability to layout flight
paths for cruise missiles would greatly enhance the game.
Thanks, you guys have done a great job making an awesome game and an amazing database!

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
[CORRECTED DB v436]
some low priority change in database (since we talk about paper plane)
Yak-44 and its radar
there is big interview with V.B. Abidin, the leading designer of "OKB Yakovlev " in magazine "Oboronniy zakaz" march 2008 ¹18, article "Eagl eye of the navy:plane of radar surveillance and guidance Yak-44E"
*ozakaz.ru/index.php/articles/15032008/229-n2011-03-28-0338
in russian
in this article is really intresting reference table for example:
Ìain characteristics of the Yak-44E and its RTC (radio-technical complex)
geometrical characteristics
Wing span, m 25.7
Length, m 20.5
Height, m 5.8
Dimensions with folded wings and lowered radome radar m 20.5x12.5x5.7
Wing area, m2 88.0
Fuselage diameter, 2.7 m
Diameter radome radar, 7.3 m
crew
Pilots, pers. 2
RTC operators , pers. 4
(in database 5 crew members can it be corrected?)
powerplant
The type and number of engines 2xTVVD D-27
Take-off power / cruising power, bhp 2x14000 / 6750
Weight without propfan, kg 1650
Specific fuel consumption at cruising kg fuel / bhp*h 0.143
Propfan diameter, 4.5 m
Number of blades propfan 8 + 6
Mass Properties
Weight maximum take-off, kg 40000
Fuel capacity, 10,500 kg
Wing loading, kg / m 2 455
(in database fuel capacity is 8000kg)
flight performance
Maximum speed, km / h 740
Cruising maximum speed, km / h 700
Landing speed, km / h 185
Service ceiling, m 13000
patrol speed km / h 500-650
patrol height m 3000-11000
Ferry range, km> 4000
The length of the runway. m <1350
Duration patrol in the area at altitudes 0,2-11 km and 300 km range. h 3.6-6,5
(well, a lot of incorectness in database it seems)
Radiotechnical complex E-700
Waveband B
The average radiation power. 5 kW
Detection range, km:
air targets (RCS = 3 m2) 250
cruise missiles, AGM-86 ALCM 220
cruise missiles, AGM-84 "Harpoon" 165
Detection range of sea targets such as "destroyer" to the radio horizon
Altitude range detection and tracking of air targets, m 5-30000
Speed range of detectable airborne targets, km / h 40-3500
Number of simultaneously tracked targets 150 on the surfase 1500
The rms error of the determination on the range of 200 km, km:
planar coordinates is not more than 2
a height of not more than 1.5
direction finding accuracy of single director jamming, no more than 20 minutes
Number of induced on purpose fighter 40
The number of operators 4
(here we need a little clarification, from article:
"By November 1979 the OKB AS Yakovlev has prepared a technical proposal for AEW aircraft Yak-44E based at airfields and land on aircraft carriers (take-off from the springboard, landing on the arrester). It considered two alternatives radio complex (RTC), "Torch" (with inside fuselage placing antennas radar - one in the forward fuselage and the second - in the tail), and E-700 (with aerial surveillance radar in a rotating radome above the fuselage)."
" Many problems arose and developers RTC "Torch", which led to delays, and then to end in March 1983, the work on this complex and to a serious reduction of development of the Yak-44E as a whole.
At the same time, since 1982, Design bureau Antonov-based tactical military transport aircraft An-72 been developing in AEW aircraft An-71 for the Air Force. Therefore, for the way out of the difficult situation in March 1983 we decided to develop an alternative design of the ship-based AEW aircraft An-71K by the OKB Antonov. At a basic An-72 to increase the lift of the wing and landing characteristics of both turbojet propulsion D-436K its powerplant were placed over the wing, providing blowing its top surface and mechanization.
To increase the thrust-weight ratio aircraft An-71 is further equipped with a booster TRD RD-38A. Carrier-based aircraft An-71K, to be fitted with three booster TRD RD-38A. The radar antenna RTK E-700 was placed in the mushroom radome on top of the keel, which had a negative sweep on the back and front edges. Preliminary design of the aircraft was prepared for the fall of 1984, it became clear that the geometric dimensions and take-off mass does not allow to place An-71K on the aircraft carrier, and the further development of the An-71K stopped.
In this regard, with the October 1984 OKB AS Yakovlev continued to work on the Yak-44E on the basis of a new design-layout scheme in which there were no PD, and the high take-off thrust-weight ratio and blowing the top surface of the wing to increase its lift ensured turbovintoventilyatornymi engines (TVVD) D-27 (currently, these engines are used on the power unit of the new Russian-Ukrainian military transport aircraft An-70). A new version of the Yak-44E was fitted with RTC E-700 with an antenna radar mushroom fairing above the fuselage as the American carrier-based aircraft E-2C "Hawkeye"."
Sorry for auto translation. So basicly E-700 RTC (for Yak-44)= Kvant-KS RTC (for An-71K)
Number of radio stations:
VHF-UHF band 7
shortwave band 1
satellite communication 1
So could you please change RTC from Shmel-2 to E-700 and and configure other settings
Of course Yak-44 is paper project so not so big priority for this requested changes in database
Few word befor the end of the post. Yes, I know that there is a version (or more accurately preliminary design) of Yak-44 with Shmel-2 for Russian Navy 2010 competition for carrier AWACS(more like competition of preliminary design), and Yak-44 lost that competition to A-110 (obviously, "VEGA" and "Beriev" have a long and very close relationship, there is nothing here to be surprised)so we have more chance to see 4 engine monstrosity of the A-110 than Yak-44 with Shmel-2 in flight
ps sorry for bad english

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
few updates found:
1. China #2495 - Type 054A++ Jiangkai II:
a. H/PJ-12 (Type 730) was replaced by Type H/PJ-14 (Type 1130). On a side note, OFC-3 used in both has also IR camera and laser rangefinder in addition to tv camera. Also, looking at the DB there is no difference between type 730 and type 1130 in stats, but all sources claim superior performance of the latter (Air PK 70%->75-80%?)
b. active VDS didnt replace, but compliment passive TASS - they work together as part of one suite similiar to US MFTA or Thales Sonar 2087.
c. it is equiped with towed acoustic torpedo decoy (probably similar in performance to early 70s Nixie). Designation unknown, one source claim SQK-6. Same for Type54A and destroyers 52C and 52D.
d. DL are Type 726-4 I believe (curently XXX in DB).
e. I suggest adding CY-3 ASROC (Yu-7) to magazines (4-8?) and maybe even to default mount (2-4?)
2. New variant of Type 56 corvette (56A?):
a. VDS/TASS setup same as 1b.
sources:

3. US AN/SQR-20 MFTA (#4808 and #4490) changed designation to TB-37/U. Upgrade for DDG-51 and CG-47 should be completed in April 2015. This sensor is active/passive VDS/TASS combo, not passive like Db states.

Gents,
A couple suggestions for the DB. Not sure how "in the weeds" you want to get, but there are some inconsistences with helicopter mounted weapons in the DB. I will be posting some requests focused on the MH-60 series shortly, but first I wanted to point out a couple things with the weapons. Let me know if this is to granular to worry about...I'm a detail freak!
1. Weapon #1125 in the DB (GAU-16) is actually a .50 cal weapon system, not 7.62 as indicated.
2. Weapon #630, which is listed in dozens of aircraft entries is the GAU-15 or GAU-16 in the US military.
Not sure what you think about this...but the differences between the GAU-15, 16 and 21 are negligible in game terms (dif base .50 cal weapons, mount, recoil system). Maybe create ONE .50 cal weapon entry called GAU-15/16/21? This would solve the problem for aircraft load outs over the years, because it is hard to determine (unless you were on the aircrew) when specific units switched from say the GAU-16 to the GAU-21.
Defer to the experts, but the GAU-19 (aka GECAL 50) is a 3-barrel .50 cal weapon used on some ground platforms and the OH-58Ds. Would it make sense to add that to the "universal" GAU-15/16/21 entry proposed above, or make a seperate entry for it?
Also, same applies for the GAU-2, GAU-17 and M134 (same weapon, dif designation...M134 in US Army, GAU-2/17 with other services). Maybe ONE minigun entry called M134/GAU-2/17 minigun?
Thanks for the excellent game!

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
#1599 MH-60A “Velcro Hawk”
Add the following:
1.117 USG auxiliary fuel tank (internal)
2. Replace 12.7mm with 2 x M134 mini gun.
Source: home.avvanta.com/~whitet/mh-60.htm
ARMY MH-60s
The first special operations Blackhawk was the MH-60A, a standard UH-60 with many improvements. They were among the first to be equipped with the AAQ-16 FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) sensor and ALQ-144 "Disco Light" IR jammer. All the original A models also received auxiliary fuel tanks, IR suppressive exhausts, SATCOM (Satellite Communication), radar warning receivers, and M-134 7.62mm Miniguns.
I can't post links because I'm new to the forum I think.

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
More suggestions for the MH-60 series.
NOTE: Velcro Hawk was a nickname given to the early MH-60As due to the way they were “cobbled” together. Newer MH-60s in the Army since then have been referred to as Blackhawks, or more specifically as DAPs, “Limas”, “Kilos” or “Mikes”, depending on the model.
#1598 MH-60L Blackhawk
Suggested edits:
1. Change name to MH-60L Blackhawk
2. Add 2 x 175 USG auxiliary fuel tank (internal).
3. Change weapons to M134 vs GAU-2 (see my original post on 7.62mm miniguns)
Source: Robertson Fuel Systems OWNS the market on aux fuel tanks! Robbie tanks are found on almost every Blackhawk model in US inventory, they are ingenious products. This website will help with modifications of other aircraft in the DB.

Add www in front of robbietanks. Still can't post links.

RE: Thread for DB3000 database problems, updates or issues
Suggested edits for APQ-174.
The 174 and APQ-186 are almost identical. The 174 is carried on helos, the 186 on the CV-22. These edits would apply to both.
1. Add the following modes to the 174/186. I believe only the weather mapping mode is mentioned in other radar entries, so not sure if the others matter.
- Terrain following (TF)
- Terrain avoidance (TA)
- Ground mapping (GM)
- Weather detection (WX)
- Beacon interrogation (BCN)
- Cross scan modes (TF/TA, TF/GM, TF/WX, TF/BCN)

Suggestions for MH-60L DAP
#1602 and #1607 – MH-60L Velcro Hawk DAP
The DAP is near and dear to my heart, more suited to the gunship role than the Apache during my deployments. Most don’t realize that the incredibly high-speed and complex IHADSS on the Apache does not make it an ideal platform to support SOF in close contact at night. DAPs should NOT be confused with AH-60s, such as the Battlehawk demonstrator and Columbia’s AH-60 Arpia.
Suggested edits:
1. Change name on both to MH-60L DAP.
2. Add 2 x 175 USG auxiliary fuel tank (internal). See the Robertson website for details.
3. Add AN/APQ-174B Terrain Following Radar
4. The door guns on the DAP are in a fixed forward firing position. This is due to the ESSS installation. CHANGE firing arcs of 2 x GAU-2s and change GAU-2 to M134. There are many photos of the fixed forward mounting on the web, can't figure out how to post photo here.
5. 2 x 185 USG auxiliary fuel tank (internal). See Robertson website.
6. You could remove all the load outs that reflect troops or cargo. That's not the DAPs mission and in my 10 years in SOF I never saw one carry anything other than weapons.
The DAP can be configured with 1 of 2 types of external stores systems…one with 2 hardpoints and the ESSS with 4. If I could only figure out how to post photos!
Loadouts would look like this:
TWO hardpoint
1 x M230 chain gun w/1100 rounds
4 x AGM-114K Hellfire IIs (any SALH version) OR 1 x 19-round HYDRA rocket pod
FOUR hardpoint
1 x M230 chain gun w/1100 rounds
8 x AGM-114K Hellfire IIs AND 1 x 19-round HYDRA rocket pod
OR
2 x HYDRA rocket pod AND 4 x AGM-114K Hellfire IIs (this is more common)
This is in addition to the 2 x M134 miniguns that are fixed to fire forward. The DAP can also carry AIM-92 Stingers (2 missiles per hardpoint), but I have personally seen a mockup of the “wingtip” of the ESSS modified to carry 2 x Stingers just like the AH-64 wingtip. It was a demo, but it could easily be done.

Suggestions for MH-60K.
#1597 MH-60K Velcro Hawk
Suggested edits:
1. Change name to MH-60K Blackhawk
2. Change GAU-2 to M134. The Kilo can also be seen at times with 2 x GAU-21 door guns (See the Bergdahl recovery video for an example), so this could be added as an option?
3. External Fuel – Defer to the experts on how to implement this, but the MH-60K can carry 2 x 230 USG tanks on the ETS. When so equipped, the door guns are useless. Maybe duplicate the loadouts with a “long range” option that also deletes the door guns? Robertson is working on a 100 USG conformal system...see the CAFS on Robertson that will allow door gun use.

About the elusive MH-60A "Velcro Hawk":
- Employed historically on the 1988 Operation Praying Mantis, as reflected on this old scenario:
http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.ph ... -scenario/
- Some few images but clear images of MH-60A circa Operation Praying Mantis and Prime Chance:
From others angles photos and timeframe this is clearly a Velcro Hawk:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... nboard.jpg
This is another angle photo, with FLIR clearly observed under the nose and ALQ-144 "Disco Light" over the engines:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... rcules.JPG
Also, you can find a lot of inspiration for scenario design reading about operations Praying Mantis, Prime Chance and Earnest Will, including rare and initial use of MH-6A, MH-60A and Patrol Boat MkIII:

Suggestions for MH-60M
#3711 MH-60M Velcro Hawk
Suggested edits:
1. Change name to MH-60M Blackhawk
2. Add AN/APQ-174B
3. Engines are – 2 x YT706-GE-700 (2500 SHP)
4. External Fuel – MH-60M will be equipped CAFS from Robertson once certified
NOTE: There will also be a MH-60M DAP, same as the Lima model, but upgraded (or on new build airframe) to Mike standards. The engines will improve the DAPs performance when loaded with weapons. Please create this separate MH-60M with the load outs I suggested for the MH-60L DAP entry in the DB.

Great photo...in the shot of the MH-60A hovering you can clearly see the aux fuel tank behind the crew chief!
