Calculating SA value for an artillery gun

Post by Plodder »

I've put the M116 75mm Pack Howitzer into my data file as it was used by the US Berlin Brigade and I'm wondering how I should calculate the SA value.

Here's the gun's data from the weapons tab:

USARTY3 75mm M116 Light Artillery Gun Field Gun AP,AT 1923 2020 1 8750 8750 500 2 0 0 SM, IL, RA med arty.wav

What I've done so far is basically copy the 105mm but gave the gun it's actual range and reduce the SA value by half. Is there a formula to calculate SA? Also, what does RA mean? The definition is missing in the manual.

I think RA stands for rocket assist (ammunition type possible to use next to SM = smoke and IL = illumination)

There is a SA formula. I'll see if I can dig it up today. RA and IL are not used currently.

That would be great.

Any luck with the formula?

Yes, the bad kind. Somewhere along the line I copied over the file. I'm still digging through back up drives and working on getting a full file for all weapon types (arty, gun, rocket, bomb, etc) for SA calculations. Need it for mod guide 4 too. As soon as I get the sheet fixed and updated I will post it.

I feel your pain.[:(] I've done that a few times too. I'm taking the family for a break out of town the next few days so there's no rush. [:)] I've pretty much finished with the Americans, I'm onto the British now. The Brits in this pic are just placeholders until I get their orbat right:

Plodder, looking at initial formula estimate, the 75mm will have a SA value of 3.

Once I get all the curves reworked I will post them up with the formula. Sucks trying to rebuild the data and plots. [:(]

Life is what happens while you are making other plans. Not that it sucks any less when it does happen.
