What's your max resolution?

I'm doing a little research. Is anyone still using a computer with less than 1280x960 resolution? If so, what is your max resolution?

do you mean the maximum resolution the hardware allows, or the maximum I can use without having my eyes bleed?

In the first case I think my computer can do 1280x1024 or something like that, but I only use 1024x768, because of the higher refresh rate and the fact that with the higher settings Il need to make the fonts bigger so the extra space is lost.

Ed I can use up to 2048x1536 but usually have it on 1024x768
for text and applications

~1024x768 was (and apparently still is) my original target (don't ask, its still more vaporware than anything else ), I'm kinda surprised people still use that low of a resolution, I expected most folks to be up to 1280x1024 or 1600x1200. I guess a lot of wargamers are still using old warhorses for computers.

I'm using 1280*1024 - the leap to 1600*1200 takes a little time, hard to get used to.

A Matrox G200(8meg VRAM?), 17inch Mitsubishi 17TX screen and a 350 Pii...
leave me with a 1024 x 768 screen. I think i rather push it at that.

Geez, you need to get with the times, dudes! I'm doing 1920x1440@32bpp on a 22" screen using 12-16pt fonts and 64-72 pixel sized icons. No eyestrain at all, everything is big enough to see and read. The high modes aren't bad at all, you just have to spend some time tweaking the system font/icon sizes and adjusting your individual apps as well.

Well Ed not all of us are rich enough to own 22" screens. I am sure that if I had that size I would also use a higher resolution

Neither, I just don't spend my money on anything else but my computer! You see, I don't HAVE a real life!!!

22" = Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB. Highly recommended at only $650, possibly cheaper now. It is a big mother though, wide AND deep.

Actually, i might soon upgrade my 350...but not the screen. I think i can get a 2.4mhz PIV, 80G HD...replacing my 2 of 6.5G, DVD-CDRW combo, Geforce video card of some version, 256M DDR RAM w motherboard...for about 1200 Cdn$ . With this investment, i may try to make time to play GalCiv.

I hate the feeling of obsolescence :p So I turned my 19" monitor res up to 1600*1200@85hz.
