1938 April German

A battalion of French sightseers were escorted out of Stuttgart by the German 1st Army, after being relieved of what they insisted were souvenirs, the sausage they keep.

The Italians report that Tripoli will fall shortly a blow to Italian pride. But in the light of French and British Naval superiority inevitable.

Mogadishu has been relieved.

Smart move for both.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

More sausage and Belgian chocolate are on the menu this month.

The Axis is coming at us fast and furious. It is certainly easy to imagine how Great Britain felt during
the early war in reality. One sees threats everywhere and there is never near enough of anything.

1938 May Germans

War was declared on Holland and Norway, landings were made at Bergen Trondheim and Narvik also a unsuccessful landing attempt was made to assault Oslo. No pics available as this is a ongoing operation.
Amsterdam was shelled no direct assault was attempted due to stretched resources in other operations. Stuttgart and Antwerp were retaken for no loss.

Italians Front Tripoli fell as predicted, the Italians were content to shell Marseille and launch a bombing raid. Messina was shelled by the British navy who still rule the waves.

Amsterdam was evacuated after the Germans overran the rest of the Netherlands.

Great Britain and France are holding on as best they can. The Axis is having a fine hour.

Antwerp Stuttgart retaken (: Amsterdam Copenhagen and Oslo were taken this month, A large Anglo French tactical air attack targets German artillery the loss was heavy but the Luftwaffe made the attackers pay heavily. British air raids on the Ruhr Valley intensify.

The declaration of war by the Asian nations took the British by surprise and perhaps this surprise can explain part of the horrors of this month of shame.

The sortie of the French transports from Saigon was blocked by the small fleet off the port. Transports and small, old aircraft carriers were all that were positioned there. This rich, vulnerable target caused boilers to light off in Singapore. Admiral Phillips was wrong footed from the first, as he dithered over the old destroyers, and if they should accompany his modern powerful ships. He decided against sailing with the slower, older ships. The modern forces sailed along the coast but ran into submarines and a destroyer was lost. Circling the sub infested area Phillips sailed to certain glory off Saigon.

When the weak Japanese force was insight the mighty main guns of the Prince of Wales and Repulse rotated to targets as a tiny force of Japanese aircraft buzzed overhead. Phillips seemed very nervous about the planes, but his junior officers invoked him to press on. Phillips vacillated and the Japanese torpedo planes began to score hits. Phillips began to worry about fuel, to worry about submarines, to worry about imaginary fleets, Phillips worried.

He forgot all the grand history of the Royal Navy. The arrival of the old destroyers did not change the picture. The Royal Navy took disastrous losses including the Repulse. The Prince of Wales and a few destroyers milled about as the Japanese did not suffer a single loss. It was certainly the worst defeat of the RN in modern times.

Churchill was in shock, the Nation was in shock, but the news of the valiant defense of Hong Kong helped to alleviate the pain. Across the Empire men rose to the colors and prepared to meet the new foes with hearts of iron.
