Can't save game

How do you save the game? I'm playing for the first time (against the AI). I click on the Save icon, then click on the save icon in the save game screen. It prompts me to enter a name for the save game. I type in my name then click on the "check" button. I get an error message saying "ERROR unable to slave in slot John"

What am I doing wrong? How do I enable the slot to save in?

Had this same issue. I had installed it in a funny place other than the default, was wondering if that was the cause.

your save game folder should be here: C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's World at War A World Divided\dat\save

If your save folder isn't there, create it. that's what I did. Voila! I can now save.

Well it appears my two problems were related. I didn't have a save subfile in the dat file which is why I couldn't save. Created it and can save, and lo and behold can resize screen too.
