Do you run a lot of other programs while playing the game? Do you go long times without closing the game and restarting it? Do you window out of the game frequently?

no to all of the above questions.

Is this in reference to the odd land combat results I posted?

We gave the empire a very large number of extra toys, which were put to very good use so far

Pretty good empire results here for this point in the war.

It was a very odd result. I wish it would happen in my game![:D]

I had a one off bad result like that it came from most likely not shutting the program down, or at least I think.

New guinea - The biggest thing that is happening is the launching of the first wave of attacks on eastern New Guinea. Large air raid ordered on PM this turn. Spotting suggests he has dumped 40 or sub MGB's in PM, and I will be bombing the port too. two small bases are targeted first that will eventually surround Milne Bay. The first amphib tf's will be headed out next game turn. Intel suggests they are unoccupied and will serve as fighter bases and search platforms.

Subs - 4 enemy ships sunk and 2 of my subs damaged. got 2 of the huge tankers, so that is a plus. Empire has converted off the E boats in ASW and now is using DD's. Not sure how to interpret this yet.

Oz - Hobart attack did not go well. I have managed to reduce the fort to a level 1, but I will get no further with the 2+ divisions I have attacking. I am ferrying is some combat engineers and an extra regiment. I have been bombing the airfield every turn in hopes of destroying supplies, but the stockpile must be huge

Thailand - I managed to get a good combat result on about 5 enemy divisions hiding in the wooded rough. Although I didn't make the force retreat, it is now so outnumbered that the next attack will be decisive. this could be a big moment in the overland campaign, because that may snap open a corridor out of the jungle. time will tell.

Port Blair Invasion - this will take longer than I hoped to launch. It probably will be about April 1 before I can get it done. I have brought in two more CV platforms to increase the odds.

As you can see, the enemy has pursued a super-base defense and is likely to counterpulse when I make the first jump - and he has the most relative power. The strategy is to take what is for free around Milne Bay while. Invade the major base after satellite bases are in my hands. Keep PM knocked down. Use CVE's as CAP shield until LBA is up. This effort probably is 2-3 weeks long.

Note I will be continuing to invest the local area as makes sense based on my spotting intel.

RE: March 12, 1945 - Getting exciting

Post by topeverest »

Thailand - empire forces somehow managed to escape part of the vice at 57.52 near Chaing Mai by withdrawing. I am pursuing. Disappointing to be sure. Sent heavies against the retreating enemy, minimal damages

Port BLair - bombed airfield, and a large air battle developed. damaged airfield heavily. Still planning the invasion, prob around April 1.

New Guinea invasion - I am one turn out from the first undefended target base at 100.132 Badubadu. will be making it a fighter and search base. Very heavy empire air raiding mostly unsuccessful. A dozen hits or so with total air losses over 200, 7 ships hit, 2 large troop carriers sunk and another wont make it back. only one combat ship hit - Northampton (34.29.47). 12 hexes back to Townsville, will be sporting if empire subs show up.

Total air losses yesterday posted below, but allied centric as usual.

Here are specifics. Blair will continue to be bombed all month.

In Thailand, not sure how much further I can get, but hopefully one more river.

This turn is first invasion. still more that 200 fighters available at Milne bay, which are too many to send the bombers yet. I have pushed up a DE tf to Milne bay and a BB convoy is close I will use next turn at Milne Bay, and I consolidated my naval CAP and TF's so it will be much harder to get through this turn. The DE's should bring out enemy counterpulse if there is going to be one.

I plan fast paced invasions with one per turn on unoccupied or lightly occupied targets. So far no enemy ships to be seen.

Holy Guacamole, that has to be one of the most intense turns I ever played!!!! I don't think I have any fingernails left.

Empire counterpulsed a 12 DD task force to Milne bay in hopes of getting to my CV's and pushed all his air on my carriers. What a turn. Wow!

Every empire player who gives up early should learn from this result. Counterpulses work!

Frist, it is important to lay a little ground work. The allied CV and amphibious bundle was grouped into three hexes in and around Milne Bay. I had several DE task forces with 25 ships each running screen and 2 BB escort TFs, one ahead of the CV's (the enemy had to go through them. And one in the hex with the CV's.

Enter our hero stage left. 12 empire DD's. My DE's engage...

And the empire DD's sneak through the both BB task forces without having to fight them.

Just to give a special gift to the CV's.

Didn't know any of the Allied commanders could return as undead creatures. I know on the Japanese side that Raizo Tanaka spontaneously reincarnates.
