Strange fruit hanging in the CV

Post by TeaLeaf »

These things I noticed with CVP may be a bugs:

1. When rebasing a CVP from 1 CV onto another in the same port, the number of air missions is not reduced.
Maybe the program does this internally somewhere, but it is not showing in the main form.

2. Check the Japanese CVP on the larger class CV (3 and 4) in Tokyo.
For some very strange reason they have been marked 'out of supply' for a couple of turns in a row now, with all the disadvantages of being so (not being able to rebase is one of them).

1)CVP rebases should count towards activity limits. 2) JP units being out of supply in Tokyo is almost comic ;) Not being able to rebase when oos is a bug.

I don't see any bug regarding supply here when I load your game:

RAC has a deviation from RAW allowing certain carrier plane rebase missions without using air missions:
You can also rebase a carrier plane from a CV to another CV in the same sea-box section or port, or from a CV to the port hex it is in or vice versa. Each of these counts as a rebase for activities limits (Deviation: unless the carrier air unit remains in the same port or sea area section box). Like all other rebases, the carrier plane remains organized.

Thanks! I must admit I am mostly faring on my WiF-knowledge and I have not yet studied the deviations ;-).

Try hovering the mouse-pointer over the carrier planes ;-).

I checked again and it says: 'B5N1 (Kate), Out Of Supply, Loaded on Kaga'. Same for the other two Kates and the Val,
loaded on the Akagi, Hiryu and Soryu. Both 'Claude's on these Carriers seem to be OK. I cannot post images or links for at least 7 more days,
so I cannot show a screenshot.

But whatever their status, I cannot select them during air rebase.
For this game, I am planning to put the CVs in the 0 section and see if this lifts the problem... 1 lost impulse for JP in China then.

This deviation, and many others, comes from the 2008 RAW-7 errata.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

And since when does MWiF reflect the 2008 annual?

Since it was decided on to add a couple of those rules (and units) into the game. This was a group decision at that time (and it was decided before I came aboard, but I'm perfectly all right with those additions).

It includes the 2009 FAQ, so the 2008 Annual errata shouldn't be a big surprise. There are even included further clarifications received from Harry Rowland about certain obscure rules interpretations that came up during development. And of course there's the "Vichy NEI" solution from the same source.

Here's what it doesn't include: A separate Asia/Pacific scale map, Days of Decision III (pre-1939), America in Flames (post 1945), Patton in Flames (post 1945), Politics in Flames (adds complexity); units that do not need new rules are included (e.g., Guderian), Leaders in Flames (adds complexity), Factories in Flames (a new addition in 2008).

Just FYI:

moving all the CV's out, solved it for me (although it IS hilarious, CVP on their carriers in Tokyo OOS...).
This was ofc immediately visible in the Naval Review Details: all CVP now had a green supply status where previously they had no status-indicators (ofc reviewing status or S+S).
