I just downloaded this from the ATG site, but my question is will this over-ride the original graphics or is this just a mod that can be used? thanks I think this question has now been answered as well so never mind

Hi lion_of_judah,

Unfortunately I'm not too savvy at this point on how the graphics work other than to simply paste over the originals. So at this stage I've mostly been making the graphics for modders who know what they're doing when they alter their graphics. I hope to eventually learn how to package the graphics so they can be installed with a zip file from the ATG interface. I apologize for the learning curve. I'm still get accustomed to the game. Also I'm working on figuring out a suitable background for the graphics. The current game backgrounds sort of clash with the style of the 3D figures I think. However, I'm offering the graphics "as is" at the moment and maybe others can figure out how they would like to incorporate the backgrounds.

My plans are to do a full range of unit graphics. Maybe after I get finished with the basic units I can branch out into some of the Korean war, and more modern wars. I'll need to see what sorts of 3D models I can get hold of.

Thanks for your interest. The forum seems to be a little "dead" most of the time so it's difficult for me to gauge how interested others are in these graphics. I hope they get some use. [:)]

Good engineer/pioniere/genie complete with beard. I am a Kanoockistani and I've said before
I hates it when they look like hockey players on the map. It is so distracting.

How are your random games coming along, Gary?

Hi Dan,

I'm still learning the ins and outs of the strategy of it. I haven't gotten through a complete game yet although I've started several. Every time I start up I get a few turns in and then realize I made a horrendous miscalculation with supplies or used up too much raw making roads and didn't leave enough for bazookas to counter the armored cars etc. etc.. Still learning, although lately I've been more engrossed in figuring out how to mod the game than actually playing it.

For me that was a lot of the fun trying to design and build and deploy a military from scratch
on an unknown world. It appealed to me. I like to play random, stone age, enhanced supply with
research set really high so I sweat bullets saving up the points to buy new tech or spending them
for infrastructure. I find when you have to connect and husband your supplies and resources and build
the road or rail network things start to take on a life of their own. You have your own "Ruhr" and
your own "Mesabi Range" and your own "Texas" oil basin. I would love to see agriculture and forestry
and stuff like that but I am sure the warriors among us don't care so much. Tactics and operations
are fun but logistics is real work.

Supply is definitely one of the beauties of the game. Definitely love a good logistics game. Logistics is what made War in the Pacific such a great game for me as well. Mostly I've been obsessed with the editor these past few days. A good modable game is another thing that always keeps me coming back for more.

===========================

Redid the bazooka pack as I actually found I had a model for a US bazooka. One of these days I'll see if I can find a PIAT for the Brits.

I have not figured out the editor for units yet as I am none too bright but i can do a lot of things with
the map. Webizen (it is Roy, I think) made a kind of 1900AD mod for me but I cannot make it work the way I want
with the Enhanced Supply. The Enhanced supply is essential for my enjoyment along with the Nato symbols.
Creating, arming, organising and supplying an army and using it are what I like to do for fun. Either
that or drive around in spaceships. (My favourite outside sport is nude catch and release bear hunting
but that is muy dangerous and requires a steady partner. My last girlfriend was cute but too small.
I miss her but she just couldn't run fast enough and so console myself with my games.)

Gary
I'm looking forward to playing with these graphics you have made, they look fantastic. I think your stuff is so good, that some new scenario's I make once you have completed this I will use instead of photo's. That is how good I think your stuff is. If you ever get around to making Israeli and modern Arab forces, I can tell you now, that I will be in complete Heaven...

Gary, I can tell you now that I'm eager to see Korean war and modern era units for this game and whatever else you make for this. This is a talent I wish I had.

OK. Because we are all sticklers for authenticity, here is the revised British Anti-Tank gunner with a PIAT. Made the PIAT myself based on pics. Thank you danlongman for the inspiration.

Thank you lion_of_judah, I'll give it my best shot to get some Korean war and modern Arab/Israeli stuff. If you have any pics (especially color ones) of some of the unit types you want I'll see what I can do model-wise. 1st Priority, though, is to get the rest of the stock sub-formation graphics done when I can.

I've been testing out a background which I think may be suitable enough. It's a little better looking than a simple white background which I've been using on my previews but not so "busy" that it detracts from the units, I think. Please let me know what you all think.

Good work Gary! Re engineer: he looks more like an archaeologist to me. Probably ought to be wearing a steel helmet.
