How to drag select military

Hi this might be a newbie question but how do you drag select only military vessels because whenever i try to form fleets or order military ships i always get construction or other non army ships which really is annoying. To individually select all military ships is very time consuming, any help? thanks

Select ships by fleet or select them from Ships menu (use ctrl+LMB to select multiply ships)

Ship list, a suitable sort, and control and shift clicks. That is just about all I ever use to form fleets.

Hmm, I go to the ships list right after I buy ships, when they are all together, the I put the first ship at the top of the window, with other ships to be added right after it. I click on the first ship and hold left mouse button down then roll down the ships list dragging with left mouse button held down. When I get all the ships I want in the fleet highlighted, I select add to new fleet and presto they all join it. Alternatively you can add them to an existing fleet...
