Access Violation error

Post by TCLT »

I have just purchased Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm PE. I installed it into Program Files (x86) and when I tried to run the game I received an Access Violation error and could get no further. On a hunch I tried re-installing the game into C:\Matrix Games and it seems to work. Did I encounter some bizarre problem, or is it seriously necessary to install this game into the C: root? In 2014.

TCLT, what that sounds like is windows access control kicking in. The Programs Files folders need admin access or the program needs to be installed in a way that access control plays nice. I will pass this issue along to Rob (our head programmer) and see what his thoughts are too.

Thanks for the info. Glad you have the game running now.

TCLT, sorry for the installation issue. I will raise your issue with our lead programmer Rob and also with the Matrix folks who do the installers to see what, if anything, can be done in the future to allow installation in a Windows access controlled folder.

TCLT, Try running the game as admin, there is an option if you look at the properties of the game .exe in windows.

It is never a good idea to install games in 'Program Files...' unless you are running as a window admin account.
I always install into 'c:\Matrix games' which is usually the default for most Matrix games I have ever installed.
