2.06 Upgrade Error
I had 2.05 working and today attempted to install 2.06. I an error message which appears to be generated when Autorun.exe is executed. The error dialog says:
"Failed to extract to project file memory"
I'm hoping that I don't have to install from scratch because I no longer have the version 1.0 install package on my system.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Howie, the base Red Storm version was 2.0. All of these updates should be dropping on top of that. Did you download the update or use the update game button from the 2.05 game launcher?

It was from the game button launcher. I had 2.05 installed and running and today used the Game Update button.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Does the 2.05 exe still run if launched? What OS? Do you have Admin right? Have you tried to update again? Sorry for the question barrage. Need to figure out what is going on.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
When I double click the desktop short cut I get the error above. 2.05 does not run. I have Win 7 64. I have set Run as Admin on the shortcut properties. Where do I download the update file? As I said I had previously used the game launcher and I don't see an update file in my download directory.
RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
does it run directly from the FPRS exe file? skipping the auto run menu.

Howie, maybe you should download the zip. It has a single exe file in it and that does the upgrade. I did it that way and it was a snap.

Had the same problem, couldn't run the game from the desk top icon or the the autorun exe in the game folder, but could run it from the FPRS exe,but after shutting the game down it now runs from both without any problem.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
It could be a need for the frontend program to update as well. I know I could not for the life of me get Command to update from the launch screen. [;)]

The front end program did update for me. I was downloading the zip from the ftp site and "explored" the front end update. Did not update the game using the front end, though.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Just updated myself a few minutes ago. Have the same problem as original poster. Had gotten two errors related to "autogen.exe" during update from matrix front end. I can launch game from FPRS.exe but not the main front end window anymore. I won't be able access the update section anymore.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Okay, new information which is positive. So I had a feeling I wanted to try a reboot of my system which I did. I now can start the game from the new and improved Matrix front end. No more "Failed to extract to project file memory". Everything seems to be working fine now. Hope this helps others.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
I'll elevate this issue to Matrix. The front end is their beast. See if we can get someone to help sort this out.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Hi,
Just add my experience..
Windows 7 64.
Used update from full 2.05 and while installing the update got a couple, maybe three error reports.
Along the lines of..
“Error... .. Retry or Cancel. If you Cancel then will install on reboot.” Plus other stuff.
Went for Cancel option each time and it continued the install. Then it finished and reported Update Installed Successfully.
Then I rebooted by system.
Game does launch in the normal way from the standard front end screen.
Question.. is it likely that update did in fact install fully? Does report being 2.06.
Thanks...
All the best,
Kip.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Kip,
You should see a new splash screen, a 2.06 in the lower right of the main menu and most importantly new maps with any OTS scenario.
Let us know.

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Hi guys,
Very odd - we'll investigate this on our side.
In the meantime, if you have any issues, the sure bet to resolve them is to do a clean install (uninstall everything, except your save files, then reinstall from your original full installer) and then download the update file here and install it manually.
Both the update client and the game menu worked fine for us in our update tests, but it's certainly possible we missed some combinations or some anti-virus/security software is interfering in ways that we didn't see here.
Regards,
- Erik

RE: 2.06 Upgrade Error
Capn Darwin,
Yup... all seemed to be fine. Maps and update seemed OK.
However, just to be safe, did full reinstall back to 206 as Erik recommended.. . no problem..
All fine, thanks..
