Modifying costs?

Post by feygan »

This is a little lazy of me to ask instead of searching through the file, but if there a way to change how much it costs to maintain ships, bases & troops? I am hoping to make a change so that all these become vastly more expensive to reduce the amount of stuff flying about. If this is possible what files are the details for it located in? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, but it's complicated. Maintenance costs are linear based to be 1/4th the build cost. The build cost is based off the amount of materials required to make all the components. Thus, you will have to go through and change the entire components table and increase the amount of materials required to make every component.

Thanks for the reply there, a little unfortunate that it requires such a large amount of work instead of being able to have a single factor at the end to change. I did accomplish the task in a slightly dirty way by simply setting all government types to have a 3.0 maintenance modifier but this then takes away some of the variety you can get between government types.
