Unit descriptions

Post by Guderian »

I recently gazed at Sp:WaW screenshots (again), and i saw text describing an unit in encyclopedia. They were in SP1 but SP2 and onwards didn't include them. I find them quite useful because every new version on SP brings a few tanks/planes i see for first time in my life, and it would be nice to know what are they, how many were produced etc. Besides, those few "newbies" to wargaming can get really confused by sheer amount of "hardware" in the game...

Yes I'm also glad to see that the descriptions are back. It must be a huge task to write them all. They give a very nice touch to the game and they also help deciding which units to buy. Excellent work! Again Image

I'm really glad to see that the unit descriptions are now worth reading. I remember being shocked at the low quality of the descriptions in SP1. It was like the people didn't even speak English. Thanks for improving them!

Time caught up with us. They won't be in there like we had planned for this version. But they are done and it simply a matter of having the time to put them.

You will see them in the next patch that goes out.

The encyclopedia is the most complete one for SP games that I have seen to date...and a lot of color pics too. We're trying to get them ALL that way.

I was just checking to see what the status was of these encyclopedia descriptions. You will note that the above messages were from MAY 2000! That was version 2 I believe!

Has any progress been made on getting those unit descriptions from the ENC folder integrated into the encyclopedia? Seems like this would be relatively simple compared to all the other corrections that have been made.

Thanks again for all the good work you guys do...

The process is simple but quite time consuming. There is where we can have a problem, trying to get so much done in a very limited time frame...WB

And here we are with our true and free

an army of new aspirant 'encyclopediers'
:D :D :D
And looking myself around this forum I can bet that will be of enough quality !!
However I too am very glad we now have text description back to encyclopedia...

Your perfctly ryght! Thatz mi wo didit! :D
I remember the text sometimes exceeded the dimensions of the dialog boxes! The manual was a real mess and the dates to choose from the beginning and ending of the campaigns was nearly unreadable! But what a game... !!!

(don't let me know I haven't made any progress in writing english, I'm already aware of it :)

I'd like to add something about the translations or post synchro of english/US games: You should be glad not to be european customers! Specially french ones, for the "work" that's done on "your" games is absolutely awfull! Someone speaking french, who buy a translated game, is simply considered to be a mental deficient for the voice tone used on spoken parts of the games is purely incredible (imagine something like the way you talk to your new born baby, thats how they speak even if the game is adults rated!) When it comes to translated text, it's often as messy as the way I personally write but I'm NOT a so called professional!
Yes, you should be glad... . :)
