Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Air transfer hotkey is F10. Go into this mode, click on source airbase, select the air units you wish to transfer, right click on target airbase.

Also note that this is best done before flying any air missions as the air units may not have the mileage to do the transfer if they have already flown.

Also note that where you click is important when selecting the air group. Do it on the right/left hand side and not the middle of the air groups name. You know your in the right place when the hover says 'left-click toggle unit selection'.

Thanks Chris; the key was clicking off the name. I hesitated to ask again before you posted. Another little UI secret

I had forgotten all about this irritating issue.
Yeah, click on the left-border of the box.
Also note that if you have airbases stacked, you can make it problematic to get the aircraft to the correct airbase. If you transfer TO a stack of air bases, the destination air unit will go to the air base on top of the stack.

Chris H, thanks I have been transferring to the RES because I could never get it to work, what a silly place to put it.

Not the best place for sure but the unit name is also a link that opens the air unit window but once you realise its fine. Maybe right clicking or left clicking would have been better.

problem 1: finding the right place to click
problem 2: seeing the destination AB under the resultant info panel
problem 3: placing unit in stacked ABs

bigger issue is planning most effective force allocations; get that right early and rest your wrist

using reserve is very easy, but must admit it costs 1 week delay compared to clicks & search

for LW, at least, this loss doesn't appear to be a deal breaker

of course, IMHO...

It would be an improvement to be able to change airbase for given group just like one changes HHQ for land units.

Of course, morvael... one wonders why not from day 1, but I'm not a developer...
