Two Monitors

Post by blackcloud6 »

I run a Win 8 system with two monitors. The game comes up in the left monitor and I have it set for full screen. it works fine. But I put the manual on the right monitor and when the game is up, it skews to the left and you can only see half of it. To use the manual I have to hit the windows key or mouse over to it. The game minimizes and I can use the manual but when i bring the game back, the text is messed up and any of the info windows only come up with text with no background, pictures buttons or anything; they are unreadable. So I can play the game and use the manual. Is there any settings i can do to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have two monitors, but I have seen people post that they do.

What I would try is windowed mode. Look at the various threads here for advice on that.

Thanks. I'm trying to set the switches but I'm not sure I'm doing it in the right place. It is done in a shortcut, right? Which exe file do you use from which to make the shortcut to modify and then what do you modify?

I made one from the "War in the Pacific Admiral Edition" application. I moved it to my desktop, opened properties and tried to modify the Target: box under the shortcut tab but get a "path not valid" on everything I do.

First off, make sure you have the latest version. If you just bought (and downloaded) the game then you do.

Second, do you want to use the latest "Beta"? My recommendation is "yes". There are many, many fixes and a number of improvements. Since you have no games currently running, there is no reason to limit yourself to the version you downloaded. The choice you make affects how the shortcut you use will look.

Without the Beta, the shortcut will point to the .exe in the main installation folder. With the Beta, the shortcut will point to the .exe in the Beta (or Beta2 I think it is called) folder under the main installation folder. Note that in BOTH cases the shortcut's "start in" box must point to the main installation folder.

You can either modify one of the shortcuts that come with the game (right-click then click on it on 'properties'), or make your own (right-click on the target file then click on 'send-to' then click on 'desktop (make shortcut)') and then modify it (right-click on it then click on properties).

Attached is a pic that shows what the properties screen on a shortcut looks like. Note the location of the "Target" and "Start In" boxes that I mentioned above.

Thanks. Your example showed the error I was making. I was putting the quotation mark after the switch codes and I noticed the switch codes go after the quotation mark. It now works fine. I used this set of switches:

"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1280 -py1024 -cpu4 -skipVideo -altFont -deepColor -dd_sw

And the program runs fine. It was as simple as that. The scrolling problems went a way and I can switch over to the manual using the Windows key and back to the game and the info widows and fonts don't get screwed up.

Now I will work on installing the Beta.

Beta installed. I just fixed a printer problem so now I can get back to the game.
