Won't run after v2.06 patch (solved)

Post by FlipTrac_511 »

Hello folks. Long time no post.

After installing the v2.06 patch I get 'Access is Denied' message when selecting a scenario. Then 'Cannot open file...' after closing previous message. Finally when I try to exit the program altogether I get 'Exiting Unable to Write...'
FPRS hangs from here (or this error message keeps looping) and I have to manually end it from Task Manager.

I've run clean installs of original v2.0 and runs seemingly well, but every time I install and run v2.06 I get the above errors and cannot get past the scenario selection menu.

I have Win7(64-bit), FPRS installed in Program Files directory (non x86), disabled Bit Defender.

Fortunately I can run FPRS 2.06 in my Win8.1 laptop with no issues whatsoever.

Edit: I just saw TLCT's post below and though I should reiterate that I customized the installation path. I want all my games in one lump directory, not separated by company!
Edit 2: In a rare moment of genius, I right clicked on FPRS icon and selected 'Run as administrator' and voila, the game runs now, in all its new map art glory!

Welcome back to the dark side. [:D]. It sounds like a UAC issue, but the fact that 2.00 runs okay is weird. Two file based changes have been made. The first was unlocking the scenarios at 2.04. That should not cause a problem. Matrix made a change to the front end loaded to digitally sign it, but you are past that point. That fact win8 works fine adds to the confusion too. Please check you flashpoint.ini file and see if the CustomDirectory path is right. We will start there and dig. You can also try the 2.07 hot fix (download from the link in the forum).

Let us how that goes.
