Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Another question abouit Air Directives

Post by tiger111 »

Points concern the Germans in Italy.

1)HQ`s have only a certain no of directives,,,,,,How do I chose which ones to use/

2)In the summary page concerning Bomb City and ground attack does "ignore" mean dont bomb?

3)If I want just ground support how do "switch off" the other diectives. Will the fighter groups still fly?

4)How is it best to minimise operational losses?

Thankyou for any advice as always.

1) It depends on what you want the air to do. An air command has a limit of directives equal to the Admin rating of the leader. I tend to have only one Air Directive for each Air Mission (except for my strategic bombing commands). One Ground Support, one Recon, one Superiority, and one Ground Attack. In that order also. The air directives are performed in the order of creation - so create an air directive at long range first and a shorter ranged air directive for the same mission type later. This will see the long ranged aircraft used to do the longer ranged air directive while the shorter ranged aircraft are still available for the later shorter ranged one.

2) Yes. Ignore means the air commander (AI) will not target that industry.

3) Just delete the other directives that you do not wish to fly. Fighter groups fly as escorts with any mission type that has escorts desired. The only mission that only fighter groups will fly (and as the primary aircraft) is the Air Superiority mission.

4) Good luck with figuring that one out. Higher experience and morale with low fatigue lowers the operational losses the most.
