A few more questions

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

A few more questions

Post by JamesM »

Still trying to learn this game and have been researching the manual and the player’s handbook trying to answer some of the questions I have. So here are some questions or clarifications I would like some help on (from the allied point of view):

1. In the player’s handbook Guide#4 screen 1, explaining basic air base colours. It states green coloured air bases contain aircraft owned another HQ. But when I check the green coloured airfield they seem to have only aircraft controlled by a single Air HQ, i.e. Bomber Command AB are good examples, or am I mistaken.

2. In the production screen the numbers in the red and brackets denote total losses, but it does not seem to be explained in the manual. I learnt this by trial and error.

3. There does not seem to be any production of the Sherman firefly when checking the production screens or is there a modification process that is explained somewhere.

These are some questions that I have for now as I am still in the early phases and am finding the changes quite significant from WitE. I sorry if these questions have been asked before, but there is a bit of information overload when going through the different threads.

Thank you for any answers.

Can't find this place in manual, but green air base in normal mode (no "n" pressed), just show occupied air bases. There could be any kind air groups. CR has filter to display groups which are placed in other air HQ air bases.
2. In the production screen the numbers in the red and brackets denote total losses, but it does not seem to be explained in the manual. I learnt this by trial and error.

It was added after manual was sent to production. These numbers mean how many aircraft are missing to fill air groups to max allowance.
3. There does not seem to be any production of the Sherman firefly when checking the production screens or is there a modification process that is explained somewhere.

Some of them can be exported which is probably the case with Sherman FF
