Why is assigning to city not same as to a unit?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Why is assigning to city not same as to a unit?

Post by atheory »

I find it frustrating that I have to click in and out of a city assignment when I want to assign flak units to a city. Can we get it to where it is the same as assigning to units (meaning there is a list of units to assign and I can click on every single one if I wanted too without going back and forth between screens).

If there is a way, please enlighten me!

When you assigning flak units it is using freights to move it so if you would like to stay on the list you need to rebuild it once again which is CPU consuming. Of cause it doesn't help much if you intended to assign more than 1 unit. There is a room to improve flak management.

A simple solution would be to put a check box next to the unit names and an execute button on the screen. Players could then put a check into the boxes of all the units they want to move and send them all at once with the execute command instead of having to jump in and out of screens over and over one unit at a time.

The problem is that you have to recalculate the "throughput" all the time. Not saying it is impossible, but a bit more than just interface.
