Something odd about Salerno to Rome.

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Something odd about Salerno to Rome.

Post by GBS »

The 15 USAAF will not participate in the air directives and flies no sorties. In the event log it says that the air attacks by the 15th were cancelled because they couldn't get the required escorts. NUM 24 MIN 36. I changed the ground attack doctrine for the 15th to require no escorts but they still will not fly ground attacks. Any ideas?

Air doctrine setting influence new air directives. Also min esc value is overriding doctrine setting. In you case you need to delete old AD and create a new one. Or modify min esc to set it to 0.

The inactivity of Allies to launch attacks onto the mainland occurs in both of the main Italy scenarios. ( The allied AF to far to effective at attacking airfields(the entire German AF is destroyed in only a few turns no fun there :-(. ) 1.Husky onwards and 2.Salerno to Rome.
