Taranto Flips?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Taranto Flips?

Post by marion61 »

It's turn 7 of a server game and I see Taranto has for some reason flipped (Italian's surrendered turn 2), and the four hexes to the west of Taranto. It doesn't show what unit did this or how it happened, so I'm thinking this could be a bug? Not sure how to classify this.

Perhaps it's this rule:
In the Allied logistics phase on the turn the Italians
surrender, as well as every turn after that in which the
below conditions are met, there is a chance that some
hexes in Italy, Sardinia and Corsica will change to Allied
control. Hexes with coordinates X>151 and Y>253 or
hexes that are part of Corsica or Sardinia may change.
German units in Italy or Corsica can prevent the
switchover.

Thanks guys, I thought I was going crazy. I've never seen that rule work before, but if it gets me that area of Italy ahead of schedule, I'm for it. Ploesti here we come!

Meklore,

I'm guessing I should just proceed as normal then in our game...

Yes, it was a false alarm! I'll know better than to open my big mouth next time [:D].
