I'm sorry, but what? I don't think you understand what the HQ stands for in this engine. The HQ isn't a compact unit like a division. It's a command structure. The units attached to it aren't physically at the place of the HQ so to speak. HQs teleporting out of pockets killing the immersion? The commanders and their staff weren't all killed in a pocket. Many times they were air evacuated etc. Heck, even Paulus and his guys could have gotten out if they were allowed to or wanted. No 6th Army surrenders? Its divisions can surrender, that's all that counts. And by the way, 6th Army rose again four weeks after Paulus' surrender.ORIGINAL: Smirfy
Teleporting units have not been that much off a factor yet and have only grated slightly despite routing over the straits of Messina. As if there would not be a few "Kettenhunde" with SMG's at the ferry terminal to "rally" them. Its a crap lazy mechanic. If a unit routed in such circumstances it would simply take its uniforms off and hide until the allies rolled over them. HQ's in WiTE teleporting out of pockets killed all immersion dead, no Sixth Army surrenders in that game. I actually cant believe these mechanics remained in game.

Well, that's a pity, but you have nobody else to blame but yourself since everything you are complaining about was advertised for a long time.
RE: Im the only one disappointed?
Im not blaming at anyone im just saying i dont like the game. Its not for me. Its great game in a lot of ways. Great improvement in logistics, great fun for fans of Bombing the Reich and western front lovers...For sure. Interesting air system...not for me, but interesting. Great game in many ways. But not for me...at the moment and for what i have seen. Im glad u enjoy it. I dont like the Lord of the Rings too. Can i say so? I will not blame Tolkien...but i dont really enjoy his universe. Thats all...

watching 20k planes sorties in 30 min
You must have very old PC or resolving it on high details as on my ancient E8400 it takes up to 5 min. to resolve 40-50K sorties.

My first words were it was my fault but there you go can never take for granted a computer game. Like I said I hope the longer scenarios are more engrossing than Husky because its as dull as the opening poster says. The worying thing not for me I can always replace the money is I dont think patches are going to improve things much.

I wouldn´t say disappointed. But when WITE came out I couldn´t stop playing. Every free minute I had I spent with WITE for pretty much a year. Not sure why but I don´t get that with WITW. Instead I find myself playing CMANO or watching a movie. Played through the tutorial twice and started a Battleground Italy scenario but after 3-4 turns I just felt "meh" and quit.
I´ll give it another go in a couple of weeks. Mostly disappointed in myself for not enjoying the game as much as I had hoped. [:(]

RE: Im the only one disappointed?
I bought the full boxed version of WitE when it first came out and I've hardly touched it.Finally bought CMNO when it went on sale and I've really haven't play that much.
Probably at some point the East front and modern naval bug will hit and Ill end up playing.
Combat Mission Beyond Normandy got bought when it came out and sat doing nothing after a few games against the AI. Didn't bother getting Fortress Italy and Gustav Line. Then I tried out the games again and then tried h2h and suddenly I owned all games and have lots of h2h games going on and waiting for Black Sea.
You never know when the urge will strike.

RE: Im the only one disappointed?
My main concern is can Germany win the larger scenarios? I play WitE and mostly I play as Germany, I play the 1941-45 scenario. I get to a point where it's just line after line after line of endless Soviet divisions. As I grow weaker, they grow stronger until my advance just stalls.
Granted, I am not an advanced player and I probably could be doing a lot of things to improve my play, but I’m playing mostly for fun.
With WitE I feel like Germany has a chance, if you can get key areas early and make big gains the German player can win.
Here…I’m not so sure, the allies are so strong from the start. Does Germany stand a chance?

They have said it is possible for Germany to win.
If the 1941 North Africa module was out, you could possibly have the over 200,000 experienced Axis troops captured in 42 to use.
Its too bad a what if campaign was in the game where the Axis had those 200,000 troops abandoned in North Africa to use.
You could probably add them with the editor.

Its very winnable as Germans in the campaign when you go by victory points.

Yeah, I am waiting for a North Africa mod! [:)] It's good to know that the Axis can win. I'll probably play this game at first as Allies and then give Germany a try.

I agree with you in two aspect. The Graphics are not great for a game in 2014, and I miss production, although you can control some aspects of production. But the more I play, the more depth I find; and I love that, the micro-management part. I also had WitE, but I never loved it - after several hours of gameplay I just gave up. This one I already love more.
RE: Im the only one disappointed?
I don't mind the graphics, if anything the more it looks like a board game the better. I wish the counters looked more like real cardboard.
I don’t like animations or sprites. I like it to be as vanilla as possible. [:D] But for those that do there should be an option to turn them on or off.

Graphics done right can improve a game. Done poorly they can easily destroy a otherwise well done game. Doesn't need to be sprites. The same sort of graphics from Panzercorps could work and yes a player should have option to revert to NATO style counters.
Invasions were big deals. It would be nice to see animations of invasion ships being attacked like WitP AE.
On a side note I was looking at GG in wikipedia and games he wrote. One of them is North Atlantic 86. I have fond memories of college days playing that game to death. My Mac would say things like "naaaatooo attacking Ooooscarrr suuubmarine at...."

RE: Im the only one disappointed?
I'm sort of with the OP a little. The game is great but the scenarios aren't all that compelling to me. With WiTE and WiTP AE, the Axis forces can actually run wild for a year or two. In WiTW scenarios, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Allied side will win. No running wild by the Axis here as the Allies pretty much have the initiative and keep it. There's really no back and forth as in AE or WiTE. Maybe different scenarios in the form of DLC or expansions will change things but until then it is kind of boring playing as the Allies. I've played Operation Husky at least a dozen times as the Allies and never came close to losing. Played it a couple of times as the Axis and got beat pretty badly. Played the Air War scenario. It's almost impossible to lose as the Allies. I know the game has only been out a week, but in my opinion, it needs a better variety of scenarios. North Africa, Norway and France 40 come to mind. There was a lot of back and forth in those campaigns. Punch and counterpunch. In the stage of the war that WiTW currently represents the Axis is overmatched and stays overmatched. It's not as fun as WiTE or WiTP where as the Axis you can throw your weight around but know eventually the Allies can and will turn things around.

I agree, we definitely need France 40 and North Africa.
Also Greece would be nice plus some alt What if's the improbable but always fun what if is…OP Sealion.

I can't disagree with what you're saying. I think if they included an alternative what if campaign where the 200,000 Africa corps troops were evacuated and available for use by the Axis or Hittler doesn't invade the Soviet Union or does invade but it goes better than it historically did you would have more variety.
On the other hand if the Germans didn't invade Russia and had all those extra troops and resources available you're talking a whole different sort of war.
Personally I like the game a lot and with 1941 and a 1939 this could easily become the best of all the monster games.

But a World War II game that doesn't involve Germany in the Soviet Union is a fantasy game.

A non Soviet campaign or a Germany does better than expected campaign could be added in addition to a historically accurate could all co-exist. It would give players variety to suit their tastes.

A matter of taste of course - the latter would be palatable personally, the former not at all.
