A nit pick on the manual

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

A nit pick on the manual

Post by Numdydar »

As someone that has put together a lot of technical documents, I know that no matter how many reviews and edits, something is always missed. This is true for the WitW manual as well [:(]

Imagine my surprise after receiving the printed manual today that the very first screenshot has the word Alpha shown on it [:)] Page 10 if anyone wants to look [:)]

Of course I then had to scan all the other screenshots to see if there were any other errors, and did not fine any (and yes I AM that kind of guy [:)]). Not that there may not be any but I did just scan then, not do a detailed study [:D]

Obviously this can be fixed in the PDF version of the manual if it is updated, but not in the printed copy. But it should be fixed in the PDF version as it does give the wrong impression of the game (at least in my view) to have the very first screenshot look like the game is not finished.

Can you imagine?

Almost as bad as Fox sports using footage of Karlos Dansby (now with Cleveland) to hype the Cardinals Seahawks game coming up on sunday.

The manual went to press weeks before the final (non-alpha) art screen was in the game. The picture you see on page 10 is what the testers were looking at when the manual went to press. Now if this is the only issue, I'd be very happy. [:)]
