battle for Berlin?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

How is EF battle calculated if the Russians reach Berlin and Allies attacking same hex at same time?

Speculation but East front moving west is calculated in the german logistics phase yes?

So theoretically only one side or the other will be hitting it.

My understanding is that only units in the EFB count for EF total.

Only units in the EF box count into the fighting against the Soviets. Whenever the Soviet front line moves, any Allied units in the newly captured Soviet zone are moved out of the zone to a friendly controlled hex (same for the German units I think). So if you want to take Berlin, you have to take it before the Soviets determine that they took it. The front line tends to jump several hexes at a time. I don't remember how close it comes to Berlin before it makes the jump to capture Berlin, but it will ignore the fact that Allied units are there and take it when it calculates it has reached the x coordinate as detailed in the manual.

Joel - I remember playing many months ago and the Russian front overran some of my Allied units and destroyed them. I forgot to post about it at the time. Is that still the case?

In my recent tests, the Allied units were just placed back in Allied territory. I saw this happen. Can't promise that no one ever gets destroyed, but in the test I paid attention to, everyone got out safely.
