Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Turn with almost no EF replacements?

Post by jzardos »

Trying to understand why a turn on EF would have almost no replacements? Aren't a certain % of all manpower already earmarked for the EF? Anybody know why this turn has total of 240 manpower going to EF? That does seem possible for a week on east front for any part of the war.

Check out the total from the turn before and compare the difference. I've ssen a few other posts that make me think the turn total may not be correct.

Joel, I didn't know if there was some change in reporting or not but there are definitely more men going into units than is shown. I haven't said anything because I thought maybe replacements going in were being offset with the damaged elements being returned to the pool and the display affected by that. The reason I surmised that is because some turns the WF shows negative replacements and sometimes total replacements on both fronts only 1k to 2k combined but manpower pool doesn't budge.

There's a bug, already reported in the bug area that we've just fixed but not sure if it will make it in the first patch or not. Units in refit on depots are getting replacements in the other player's logistics phase, which means they are getting troops, but they aren't showing up in the log report because they're getting them in the Allied phase. We think this is why the reports are coming back in the log phase with so few troops. When I ran the save from the initial report with the fix, the numbers in the log phase looked good. So this is mostly just a timing issue that will be fixed if not in the first patch then in the second.

The fix for this made it into the 1.00.07 patch just released. Once you start using this, please report any instances where you think the logistics report is not showing you a valid number of replacements. In this case it was a good clue that something was wrong (you do have to look at East and West front numbers together if you are using the EF option.
