Excessive losses in 1.08.01

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Excessive losses in 1.08.01

Post by tiger111 »

The end of turn German losses seem totally wrong

Scenario 1943 Campaign. Latest patch Turn 6.

Axis losses:

Killed 18,264
Captured 985
disabled 1,661,717. !!!!!!!![X(]
Returned 80.143.

Sov losses in similar proportions.

Is this a bug.......... Thanks.

Be happy, this gives you additional manpower from men returning to duty :)

Thanks Morvael.

I appreciate all the time and hard work that you put into these (WITE and WITW) games.

More like WitE only, but thanks :)

Disabled pool is an important source of manpower for German player at this stage of war, and playing from 1941 you would have 1M+ men there, so it's good that the scenario starting in 43 gives you automatically some men in the disabled pool.

Those losses make no sense to me. I can see how they could be created on T2 from the T1 pockets, but how could there be so many shatters?

Those losses make no sense to me. I can see how they could be created on T2 from the T1 pockets, but how could there be so many shatters?

i understand some of the terminology, like turn 2 and turn 1 etc, but what does shatters mean? same as destroyed? as it's not a word i seem to know, unless it short for shattered maybe, and yes there was a few of them, i moved all the units i could to attack the Russians, and i engaged them with overwhelming force in nearly all engagements, most just surrendered, some retreated, but not that many...

moved as fast as i could and as deep as i could in one turn, turn 2 was a lot better tbh, so thought i'd post 1 then update to latest version and compare and see the difference...

my aim and plan was to take out as much command and control eg HQ as i could on turn 1 and airfields, but ended up doing more armour than i thought i would, that was a turn 2 objective...

couldn't remember how to see how much supply and fuel i got, as i captured loads, and i mean loads, and i was at turn 3 objectives almost on turn 1 so my best start in this battle, only reason to post it tbh, never played past 5 up to yet, i just keep playing the first 5 or so turns, as even after a few years i never really get the mechanics of the game enough to play through, but will re learn and finish one, one day...

Sorry Morvael, thought you were a playtester for WITW as well.

Shattered means that the defending unit has essentially dissolved due to low morale/TOE/experience and is no longer a combat unit. Essentially a surrender type of result that does not require isolation status first.

Sorry Morvael, thought you were a playtester for WITW as well.

I was, being quite active last summer, before I got involved in fixing WitE. Found a dozen of bugs at that time, helped a bit with Polish forces and tiny bits of code, but this is all incomparable with the work done on WitE...
