Steve, I do understand. This is simply a computer wargame. It is not the world. The world should be addressed elsewhere. I was remis and deserve your slap. To those offended by my comments, I sincerely appologize. They were motivated more by contemporary events, and had nothing to do with the AE game.ORIGINAL: AW1Steve

Alfred and JWE , please understand.
Ciao. JWE
I'm not really sure if your original post was pointed partially (or entirely) at me, as the originator of this thread / person who kept arguing / whatever. If so, I accept your apology, and hope whatever problems outside the game you are referring to will resolve themselves soon.
Please understand (to all), that I am not trying to cause a ruckus, show up anyone, increase my post count, or whatever. The reason I stopped posting on this thread is that I didn't feel I had anything to add. I said my piece, and explained my points as best I could. Apparently my communications skills are even worse than I thought though, as I don't think my reasoning was understood.
Perhaps it is just my pig-headedness, that I still think I was right in that my question had value. I have seen though, that this is not as important as it first appeared as the vast majority of air group leaders becomes non-flying leaders as the game goes on. At the time I asked the question, I was diving deep into the early USN CVWs, where there are a lot of historical figures in the game which both fly and lead (Thatch, McCluskey, Ring, Leslie, etc).
I debated not posting this last part, again as I'm not trying to show off to anyone. I decided to post it in the name of increasing information. I have learned a lot from this board, from people who took the time to post, so for those interested, I'll return the favor. If it is not useful, feel free to ignore it, but in case anyone still cares, here is how I cross reference my pilots when I have a lot of good flying leaders to choose from(usually USN squadrons):
Select the squadron commander to change him (bringing up the list of prospective commanders). Using tracker, select "Air Groups and Pilots" from the pull down menu. Select "Reserve" for Location and sort by whatever traits you want to use. Sort by "Nation" last (hit it twice to get USN to the top). There is a column "Type", which indicates the type of A/C the pilot flies (I don't know this, but I assume that it is the last A/C type he flew). Look through the list of leaders for a prospective leader. Once you found one, find him in tracker to see if he "qualifies" (flies that type of A/C). This way I can ensure that I assign Thatch to a VF and Lindsey to a VT (assuming I didn't screw up before and "switch" his type earlier in the game).
