Reporting for duty

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Reporting for duty

After some delays caused by the store and my own incompetence. I have finally purchased this epic piece of wargamming history.
Now for the cursing and fits of rage that are sure to follow.

Lol, hopefully the game will be gentle with you. I've re-started the grand campaign (solo) several times after major "AHA!" moments. But every moment was enjoyable. The help I've received here had been priceless, too. I took to WITW much quicker than I did to WITE, especially in the air systems. I have a feeling WITW will work out to be as inexpensive as AE has been in terms of hours played versus price. AE has paid for itself many times over.

Too true! :)

I just messed up an amphib attack to take Naples. Only got half the units ashore that I intended but kept going and was somewhat distraught (but also pleased) to see the AI close in around me to push me back into the sea. I set a high message level and watched the battle play out for the next 20 mins. Very tense! Unfortunately I lost but it was nerve racking and enjoyable and I learned something important for next time!
