Steam version 1.06?

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Steam version 1.06?

Post by gravyface_ »

Saw a thread by Rasputitsa where he talks about using the 1.05 patch (and how Steam is on version 1.06).

Can 1.05 be applied to Steam versions of the game? I'd like to implement some/all of these fixes in here (convoy routing/defense modifiers/supply) but not sure if Steam's 1.06 version will work.

STEAM version does not have the F12 access to change national PP levels and shift nations in/out of AI control during play, which has been very useful in managing the game and fixing PP irregularities during play. The fixes in the scenario consts.ini and national consts files should still work in the STEAM version, except that if there is an automatic STEAM game update, it might wipe out the changes you have done. I am using Matrix v1.05, as it has F12 and I keep control of the files.

I haven't checked recently, but STEAM v1,06 introduced a new fault, in that the 'Armor in City' combat modifier is being applied even when armoured units are not attacking, or defending, in a city. You can overcome this by resetting the 'Armor in City' value to 1.0, a neutral value :

This is the extract from the 'Fall Gelb' scenario consts.ini file which is providing the modifiers

[LandCombatAttackerModifiers]
NoPanzersVsPanzers = 0.9
1DirectionAttack = 0.9
2DirectionAttack = 1.1
3DirectionAttack = 1.35
4DirectionAttack = 1.55
5DirectionAttack = 1.8
6DirectionAttack = 2
RiverPenalty = 0.75
PercentagePenaltyForEachFortLevel = 9
PercentageOverrunLossesForAttackers = 2
ArmoredCityModifier = 0.5 ......................... this is the 50% Armored in City modifier

Change data 0.5 to 1.0 to eliminate the 50% loss totally. but unfortunately it removes the 'Armor in City' effect totally.

The consts.ini fixes I am using are intended to provide a more challenging and historical game against the AI, it becomes problematic in PBEM if your opponent can change features to get an advantage, at least the AI is completely trustworthy - I think !![:D].

I'm not sure what the Matrix F12 does, but hitting SHIFT-F12 in the Steam v.106 version brings up a screen where you can fire events (bottom right) and modify PP points per country.

Well that's a good find [:)], I thought this feature had gone from STEAM, it's the same feature as the Matrix version, which just uses F12 (no shift) and does the same things. Problem is that there has not been much of an update of documentation since v1.0.

The STEAM version has a new extra map overlay with F11, which looks like hex supply level.
