Game crashed mid turn and won't swtart anymore

I just had a strange experience with witw. The game was running fine up till a couple of minutes ago. I was playing both against the AI and against humans via the multiplayer system, all without problems.
In the middle of my turn in a game against the AI the game froze and crashed, refusing to restart afterwards.

I tried installing the game from scratch both with and without the patches that came out till now, it always crashes before even the intro movie plays.

Is there some kind of log file somewhere that I can look into / upload here? Seeing how even newly installed copies of witw crash I'm somewhat bewildered what is causing this (some registry key that was corrupted maybe?).

One final note, I did not delete / uninstall the original install that crashed, no idea if some strange windows behavior is causing the behavior of the newly installed copies. Windows version is Windows 7 by the way.

Try disabling temporarily your Internet security programs, like anti-virus.

After turning off the windows firewall it worked again. That is kind of strange given that it was working before, windows firewall is not really helpful anyways so it can stay off. Anyway thanks for the help.
