Say goodbye to some true and trusted friends...

OK, thought I'd give the general gaming public a taste of what they will be missing in the update to SPWAW...

No this isn't a slam on the product, SPWAW 5.0 is shaping into an AWESOME game!!!

These little things I am going to mention are tricks and cheats that we will no longer be able to spring on (or have sprung on us by) other players - as well as little nusainces that we all love to hate - that are no longer in the game:

If you liked the trick of loading and unloading troops from a halftrack over and over in the same hex during a turn to lose suppression, well, ya can't pull that one anymore. :0

If you had a penchant for buying 100s of jeeps or other types of small recon vehicles and patrols and send them zooming all over the place (often right through enemy positions) unscathed, well, go ahead and try it in the new version ;)

Those who savour the art of sending crap units out to draw enemy fire until it is nearly exhausted (there is always special op-fire) with little chance of having your good stuff fired on when you roll up adjacent for the "kill"... try this one in the new game and you will have little left to play with other than what remains of your "crap" forces when it is all over :D

Those of us (I admit being in this lot) who would voluntarily bail out most or all of thier mediocre tanks, knowing that the crews are virtual supermen and had a MUCH better chance at killing tanks then the actual tanks they originally occupied, will have a very bad day when they realize this is now a suicide tactic :)

For all of us who have worked for hours on a map until we were punch drunk and then in advertantly exited the editor before we saved anything :( will be VERY happy :) to know that there is a safety measure installed (you can thank me personally for this one :) that will prompt you to save before allowing you to exit - this was one of my #1 pet-peeves.

Any designer that has worked with way-points will be THRILLED to know that the way-points no longer disappear when you buy new troops (YEAH!)

To the roughly 90% of designers that wished they never saw (let alone used) the "Load all units into the nearest transports" button in the editor, will be happy to know that this too will prompt confirmation before executing the order (yep, thank me again ;)

These are just some of the fixes you will find in the game, improving it by leaps and bounds... there are literally SO MANY of these types of improvements in the new game that I would be able to type for hours and not cover half of them (just wanted to give you all a taste).

Along with these improvements, the actual engine has a plethorea of inovative and sometimes thrilling enhancements and mods that take the game to a whole new experience level. I am not going to let any cats out of the bag, but be sure to know that THIS version leaves em all in the dust ;)

Sounds wonderful. I am just waiting for the
ordering page to become operational.

Yep, that's what made me the happiest! The objectives also stay set, and let me tell you it is a weird (but great) feeling when you can hit "buy" all you want and everything is still set! :D

Heh heh,

Long time no hear Eric... how is everything?
Drop me a line in a few and we can knock heads (I'll still use the hordes of jeeps while I still can get away with it though ;)

Oh yeah, sorry to pop your bubble, but the FTs will not be as useful to you as they were before either ;)

Are we going to lose the immortal German Halftrack? I put eight (yes that's 8!) 47mm rounds into a halftrack. Every one them "damaged the turret". I presume that's the 37mm gun's shield. The 37mm gun still fired!
