Battalion Combat Units

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Battalion Combat Units

Been away for a long time....recently reloaded and upgraded to latest patch.

Tried a quick test to see if battalion-sized StuG unit would work as an on-map combat unit....it seems to work now!

Could it be true?[&o]

It does? You used the editor for the test or what? Screenshot, please? :D

I think it was possible before to create such units. Just create new TOE with Combat Unit class and of Battalion size. The problem is you can't convert this unit to support unit and the other way back during the game.

In past versions, a battalion sized unit could be placed on the map, but would disappear into the ether when it came into contact with any enemy unit or even travelling into enemy territory.

But now it is not so....I used the 600th StuG Battalion as my test subject. Was able to advance into enemy territory, and even attacked a Soviet Tank Division (it was SCOUTED).

Unfortunately, an on-map battalion still costs 1 CP for the HQs....but that is a minor problem.

This is an awesome new feature![&o]

What about stacking? Does it count as 1 out of three allowed?
Nobody respects a country with a poor army, but everybody respects a country with a good army. I raise my toast to the Finnish Army.

It's not April 1st. How did you do it?

Yes, so as you see it's not really that good.

Made a quick and dirty mod allowing all German battalions with AFVs as playable units....love pushing StuGs around!

Believe it or not, back in the day made a mod making ALL support units playable...for both sides.[X(]

That took a lot of trickery and shenanagens.....now it's simple.....thanks![&o]
