OT MIDWAY ISLAND

Post by gap23518 »

Just curious if anyone has been to any of these remote islands. Back in the good old USAF (84-90) I was tdy to the
NAS for about 24 days. We had a chance to go see the other island w/ a navy tour group but I didn't and sure regret
that. Every time I see it in the game I think about the fact that I was at a place that a lot of folks don't ever see!
(they may not want to see it either and actually not missing much)
Never saw the Cousteau folks either.
I called home and it cost a fortune as it was via a sat. link.

I played a round of 9 hole golf (no room for full 18)and stayed in what I think were WW2 dorms.

My understanding is it was closed down but planes can and have landed there in an emergency. I also think it was
flooded after its closing due to a storm and the park service has it now?

Anyone got good info on that gem of the Pacific?
