No,no "walking like the crab"

Post by ViktorKormel »

Hola a todos y feliz año nuevo! I am very worried about last patch. Here in Spain we have a proverb that say "vamos de patras como el cangrejo" what means that we are not getting better, we are getting worse. In the new version we have detected a lot of serious bugs in the air, land and naval system. Many of them makes the game unplayable. I understand Steve works in netplay but the basic game must not be affected by this work. We can wait but we want play and it´s not possible with 1.3.0.[:-] What dou you think? [8|]

Did you download the hot fix 1.3.1.05? if not then you are not playing with the correct version.

There were some late bugs found in 3.0 that could not be put in before the holidays so Steve posted a fix for them. Just download the hot fix and extract into the main WiF game folder and you should be good. Or at least a lot better [:)]

Yes I did it and I´m afraid the main bugs are not fixed. I am frustrated because many of these bugs are new and they can´t be ignored o surrounded. I am surprised by that other players havn´t got detect them.

You may have a corrupted save. So you may have to reload an earlier one.

You are correct that if these major issues were being seen by others, then there would be a lot of other people complaining about them too [:)]. I suggest posting your latest save with an explanation of the issues in the Tech forum and someone will be able to look at it as see what is going on.

With respect, without saved games and a description of the bug(s), saying there are lots of them is not really helpful.

Numydar it´s possible you´re right, I´m sure about it with bugs associated to "ghost" units for example and we play a heavy modded version too, it could be another reason for some bug but other I´m afraid that not.
Paul, I have reported some bugs and I ám preparing the files for anothers. In fact, there are some reported by others in tech forum (a2a for example reported by Jose Ignacio). The problem is that some of the bug are not easy to reproduce becouse they are "marching on" bugs. For example, drop units in naval movement doesn´t work most of the times... or mistakes in the implementation of losses after land attack, sometimes are ok sometimes not... In every way I will report them in tech forum. This thread is more to express my worry about these serious new bugs, a good intentional warning to developing team [;)]

I've pounded on this version a lot, and I have to say that I haven't encountered any problems regarding air to air, other than the ones I've stated already. Fatal bugs for aborting planes? I haven't seen them. I don't know what is happening and without any saved game, we can't do anything...

Ghost units? I don't know how I can get them and I don't have them in any of the games. I see that they appear with other players and if I want to recreate this, I can't do so.

Personally, I believe this patch to be a very stable one (if you use the latest patch Steve has put in). So I don't know what you are talking about here...

You comment above about the game 'Heavily modded' is most likely the issue. There is not much the testers can do trying to fix issues if the game has been changed at all from stock.

Hi Viktor, not another player who has not detected problems, I am like paul a beta tester and I have had not one problem with the new patch land combat air combat, naval combat, I just ran another extensive test and not a problem, not saying that you are not having problems but a big but, what do you mean by heavy modded?

You used the word we, who is we, you said you are surprised that no one else has noticed these problems, not sure but maybe no one else is having these problems. Are you referring to net play or solitaire.

I answered in the above posts I tested a lot over the last five days and no problems.

Remove all modifications and see if you've still got these problems. The more you mess with things, the higher the chance that you've messed up with something you shouldn't have...

Hi! I´ll try to explain myself better. We are my friend Pepe and me. We are playing a long global war game from five months ago, now we are playing 1949 march / april turn. Yesterday I began to report an AAR about our atypical game. We have updated the game along these months, including betas to test them and helping the team. I have reported some bugs, not all we have detected, because until now my internet conection was very bad. We are playing hotseat mode. With the last version, we have detected a serious bugs that we haven´t detected before and that´s the reason I wrote this thread. Like I said I´ll report them properly in tech forum after the next game session, next thursday. By other way, we play with some aesthetic mods (weather, terrain, units colors, names...) but no structural or code changes mods so I don´t think that the bugs are caused by them. I don´t want offend anyone with empty critics. I love this game and I want it works and help to get its complete potential. [:)]

English is fine Viktor and appreciate your comments, if we sound negative we are not, we just want everyone to enjoy their game, when I test I rarely finish a game I just test so maybe as you go that deep into a game problems may occur, just not sure. I can only comment on the sections of the game I work on, and I am having none of these problems. Pepe [:(]? how about my friend Jose [;)]

I understand. So come on with those bug reports, so we can investigate and get them clear for Steve to start killing them...

Yes, I doubt that your modifications to the data files would cause problems - unless you started adding/subtracting units. But from your post it doesn't seem like you have done that.

Recently I have been cleaning up problems in the public beta reported by the beta testers. I'll go through the post in the Tech Support next [it will take me several days to do that].
