fun times as I learn wow

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

I almost got a crushing d day expansion as my panzer counter was stopped dead by concentrated enemy air.. one depleted para stopped me cold....
Its really a most mature release after the somewhat challenged release of WITE... I highly recomment this, its obviously been well tested .

I'm really bowled over by everything so far. The map is beautiful, the interface elegant and usable, the details really rich. I am in awe of what has been accomplished here. Kudos to Grigsby and gang!

In the readme file, the designers make the following suggestions if you are playing against the Allied AI:

"2. Since it is much harder to create an AI for the attacking side, we strongly suggest that when playing against the Allied AI you give the AI more help than when playing against the German AI. Once you are experienced with the WitW interface and game mechanics, we suggest playing games against the German AI at Challenging level. When playing against the Allied AI it’s advisable to give additional help such as setting the game to Challenging and then increasing the Allied Morale Level to 125."

I have to agree. I am struggling as allied on normal (not badly, just not quite getting the VPs I need) while I tried axis on normal and found it quite easy. will have to try a new game on challenging

Yes, I noticed that the Rulebook is filled with gems like that, where they tell you to do something, but then neglect to tell you how. Usually I can figure it out on my own, then write a little note in the (printed myself) book. I got caught by the depot one, but let it go until I stumbled across it in game when I wanted to build an airfield.
