You have 6 players participating?

That's a hat doffing right there. [&o]

We do now. We started with four, but after Axis Impulse #1 was finished, we got two more, so we added them to the game (though we took the Soviets turn for them ATM in the interest of time).

Sept/Oct 1939 - Allies #2 - Land Movement

The USSR (played by me at the moment) claims Eastern Poland, not realizing that this would insta-kill the fighters putting them in the internment pool (but pilots unavailable until Germany/USSR go to war). After a brief discussion, we decided to play it as is.

I suspect that was a mistake.

I am going to follow this battle of the Gods with interest and trepidation. [:)]

Well ... I didn't realize it would give Germany a multipler boost for the turn (and it won't be the only mistake I make this game), but the other unit is an air unit. The odds aren't in the pols favor, but if its a trade, its about break even on BP, and if it succeeds + advance, its an allies benefit.

Sure. Consider them requested ;-).

The attack failed, and I failed to screenshot it. However, the germans had to use a fighter as a bomber to push the odds to something slightly less ugly for them, so thats one less plane that can operate this turn.

Sept/Oct '39 - Axis #3 - Weather

The rest of the turn ends, but despite getting a boom to production, the German's are unhappy as the CW rains on their parade. *rimshot*

The Führer is very pleased that he can use the propaganda value of polish troops attacking Prussia in order to gain an extra effort from his Volk.

Due to scheduling, we've dropped the player count to 4, and will be likely starting a second concurrent WIF game. As of today, we finished Turn #1. Not too many screenshots, since we got pretty deep in the flow of things, but here's the highlight real

Axis Impulse #5/Allied Impulse #6
Germany DOWs Denmark, and the United States fails to care about it. WIth one swift move, Coppenhaugen falls, but the Danish Navy escapes intact, making its way to its new home in the Commonwealth. The CW remains happy about getting 6 CP. The Commonwealth Navy deploys to the North Sea and the Med, shoring up Convoy defense where possible.

AlliesImpulse #6

With the CW shoring up the shipping lanes, the USSR claims Bessarabia (which flushed out a hotseat bug, posted in tech support), with the Axis permit, then denies the Transylvania claim by Hungry, allowing Romanian to become a full ally later in the war (with the USSR the option to align Bulgaria at its choosing).

Image

At this time, the USSR does not demand the Finnish Borderlands.

Axis Impulse #7

The Japanese land more units in China, while Warsaw falls, ending Polish defense.

Allies Impulse #8

After some discussion, the Allies decide to all pass except China, which must move units to prevent being overrun, bringing EOT to 30%. After a quick impulse, the end of turn die is rolled and ...

IT'S A 3!

Our German player went offline just before this, so the game is paused on the Neutrality Pact screen.

I would have stormed off just after that die roll. [;)]

Thank you all, nice to see humans playing the game against humans.

I think a four impulse, 3 Fine Weather, S/O 39 is OK for the Axis. The up side to an opponent passing to increase the end-of-turn chance, when it works for them, is this gives them a false sense of security that this will work again when their forces are in a tight spot. When a all-Major-Powers-Pass fails, you get a double turn, which can be devastating at times. Or possibly a triple turn, if you go first on the next turn. So when an opponent tries this, I hope at least a little bit that it works for them, and we'll see what happens, next time.
