May/June 1944 End of Turn

The state of naval redeployment in the Mediterranean.

The French fleets are based in Oran (combat ships) and Algiers (lift & convoys), respectively.

German oil use.

Germany also ends up ahead. It prioritises use of the Ploesti oil, since this coming turn could see Ploesti taken away.

China oil use.

China doesn't want to expend its only oil point until it has lending coming in.

So it's forced to leave Mao disorganised.

The French are unable to reorganise HQ de Gaulle.

They definitely want oil lending to happen next turn!

US units simply guzzle the oil. Fortunately, the US has lots. It's probably going to have to share.

The USSR's overall good turn on the attack means it doesn't have to use that much oil.

Production
Before getting on with the stuff I can post, I should mention that I forgot to record each country's production this turn.

So you'll have to do without for now.

I can show the losses from the past turn.

This pool does not include sunk convoys, of which both Germany & Japan lost one, pilots killed, or damaged naval units (such as the Cabot and the Shokaku.)

It's worth noting that Germany's losses this turn as shown strictly in this pool comprise approximately 78 build points, which is quite unsustainable. I'd say two-thirds to three-quarters of those losses were inflicted by the USSR.

Germany doesn't scrap much: the Finnish fighters, an old U-boat flotilla, and Rumanian land units that might well be a waste of build points if actually built.

Factory Destruction

Germany destroys blue printed factories in Lyons, Paris, and Rouen. Japan does the same in Canton and Shanghai.

(For those new to the game, the map comes with two varieties of pre-printed factories: red and blue. Red factories are usable by anyone who controls the hex, even hostile conquerors, while to use a blue factory it has to be in your own home country or an aligned minor home country. This means that these factories are useless to Germany and Japan, but could be used by the French and Chinese, respectively, if left unmolested and later liberated. Red factories may not be destroyed in this manner.)

Peace & Victory Check

The USSR conquers Estonia.

Here is a map of the political situation as of the end of the turn. Note the inroads made against Germany this turn.

Revised victory totals.

The game indicates that the Commonwealth is leading, which I'm not sure is correct.

Based on my understanding, the Germans are a +8 over their expected end-of-game total and should be the nominal winners, at least for now.

Well, that's May/June 1944! On to July/August.

The Allies hope they can get a nice, long, fair weather turn to really turn the screws against Germany.

The Axis are hoping that the residual die roll modifier for weather combines with a high die roll to get bad weather.

I'll be updating this AAR this week. I just wanted to get a few impulses in of play so I can update smoothly.

(Also, real life, the True Facts video series and Hearthstone can be very distracting.)

July/August 1944

Start of Turn

Reinforcements

Commonwealth

The Commonwealth doesn't get much in the way of reinforcements this turn: two fighter units in the UK, and convoy points (one of which can be freely placed).
