Okay - and does that state of affairs have anything to do with a certain Chinese Prostitute?* [:-]

* Goodness - having typed that I hope my memory isn't playing tricks and that was you [X(]

I don't follow this post, Warspite1. [&:]

Are you hoping that crsutton was, in fact, a Chinese prostitute?
warspite1

I hope I have got the right forumite, but I am pretty certain one of crsutton's post once began something like:

I was talking to a Chinese Prostitute or something similar - thought folks wouldn't forget a post like that in a hurry - rats, now I'm worried I have the wrong person...

Anyway - you need to get along to the Australian Beauties thread CB - we have a quiz going and you may be able to answer one or two [:)]
Hmm. I thought it was "Chilean prostitute", but I forget who the forumite (spell check doesn't like 'forumite' - forumbeast??) was.

Chilean! Ah you are probably right - but the main thing was that she plied her trade at night [;)]

I'm glad you remembered witpqs - I was beginning to think my mind was playing tricks [:)]

Just hope I haven't offended crsutton in the meantime....

I can't remember when I was in such a hostile forum before.

Noticable is how people react to controversial theories. I mean the big picture here is obviously that there is no room for any other ideas. It feels like beeing stoned to death as soon as you are trying to think outside the box.

I have made a mistake. It is obviously pointless to discuss such matters in a forum like this. I have just today found a more objective forum on a scientific site that discusses this matter in a more serious way with a little more educated, mature and less intolerant people.

I do apologize for having stired up emotions. I was not trying to prove or refute anything.

Since I have joined the new forum to discuss my matters there I would be thankfull if the admins locked down this thread. Thank you in advance. No further comments.

DeZanic what did you expect? Firstly, of the first five to respond, two gave responses to your OP (one of whom happens to be British) and a third gave a joking reference to your statement "call me weird".

What did you do after less than 1 hour?

"Man you guys are boring... what are you british?"

That was a really crappy comment and put you into real Tosser territory - and be honest with yourself, after that grown up statement who was going to give you the time of day - although even then a few did just that.

The issue you have is that no one who did respond agreed with you so you got snotty with post 35. Having slagged off the British it was then the turn of the US education system [8|]

HansBolter's response in post 37 said it best.

Hostile? You want to discuss with more educated, mature and less intolerant people? Fine, but you could try being that yourself first.

No, mate, you're mistaken. The big picture here is not that you're being persecuted for an original provocative idea. It's that this conspiracy theory has been trotted out so often (and shot down just as often) that most of us aren't interested in discussing it again. It's a hackneyed, threadbare, unoriginal piece that has been put to bed. It's done. We've no more interest in debating it than we are in debating whether the Earth is flat. This debate isn't 'out of the box'. It's so 'in the box' that it's droll. Boring.

There are other 'controversial' theories that stoke the fires of rational debate on this subforum-you may want to avail yourself of those. A recent example is a discussion about whether the use of the atomic bombs was justified or necessary. No one felt the need to take their ball and go home there.

True, there are a few foul-mouthed people on this forum (and others) that are less politic in their dealings with others. That's why this forum comes with a handy 'green button'. I've used it for some time and am pleased with its function. I'd encourage you to do the same if you feel inclined to visit again.

I've been involved in Academia for the past 19 years. I think Dr. Hal is also involved in Academia. Academia does not have a mortal lock on objectivity, maturity or serious approach. It's certainly not a more 'idea tolerant' environment either-it's just 'differently tolerant'. Try preaching conservative political, Christian, REAL racial equality and low administrative overhead and see how far you get in academia.

As others have said, you are likely to get further in these discussions and be taken more seriously if you don't resort to fun and games and teasing others right off the bat.

Let me know what this serious, academic, objective, scientific, educated, mature and less intolerant website of which you speak has to say about this topic. I'd love to hear it.

What if you offered this for discussion: "Abraham Lincoln was a female." Hopefully you wouldn't accept that as true and expect others to prove that he was a male. You'd understand that you carried the burden of proof since you were offering an unlikely, bizarre proposition.

If you were an unreasonable sort, you'd take offense when others replied: "Come on. He was a male. There's no evidence that he was a female." You'd reply: "You're not open minded. You've fallen for the party line and failed to fairly and thoroughly sift through history. In all the existing letters we have - hundreds and hundreds - not a single person wrote that they absolutely KNEW that Lincoln was a male. There's not a single document in which an eyewitness viewed his anatomy and said he was a male. His kindly nature and eloquent words suggest he was uncommonly sensitive. Mathematicus DaVinci Organelle, a professor of Sexual History at the Providence School of Proctology said, in 1911, that Lincoln exhibited many tendencies of a female. In total, there's reason to believe Lincoln might have been a female."

The rest of us would pull out our hair in frustration or peremptorily dismiss your thoughts from consideration at this point.

Matters of history are often up for discussion, interpretation and study. But certain things are beyond dispute because they are so well established. To dispute settled matters and, in so doing, to actually besmirth the reputations of historical people, can be pretty darn offensive.

DeZanic, if you want to take advice, take a step back an read my quote of Canoerebels post. Your reaction is very close to what he puts in his example.

This forum is probably one of the best places to discuss (PTO) WWII history on the net, there might better ones but then only by a close margin. But you need to be aware that many, if not most, potential topics have already been discussed in here, and many conspiracy theories have been solidly debunked if needed. Others simply have been ignored for stupidity.

If someone new shows up trying to start a discussion about a topic - like yours - that has been long ago and without much controversy been shot into myth-land by historians, the reaction tends to be 'oh no, not again'. Happened to me as well, long ago. If you haven´t got the nerves to take some flak you are at the wrong place, and in this case you might feel more comfortable in your newly found 'open minded forum'. But if you can take a bit you might find out this is one of the most honest and knowledgeable places around the net.

Your choice.

Just in case this post is the last before this thread gets locked up, I'd like to say the following. Please note that any failure to respond to my controversial theories will be assumed as tacit agreement. Here goes:

1. The Bismarck was scuttled, not sunk.
2. The Sherman was a better tank than the Tiger.
3. The Zero was a better airplane than the Wildcat.
4. The atomic bombs were unnecessary to end the war.
5. FDR knew about the PH raid and didn't try to stop it.
6. Down is up. Up is the new down.

Nah, I am cool with number #6. I will, of course, be considered backwards when I refer to "down" as down instead of up.

I am more concerned that you left out a important item on your list. One could even suspect you did so deliberately and are part of a cover up operation. Well Sir, I am not fooled!
