M113 ACAV

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

M113 ACAV

Post by Tazak »

Looking at the M113 ACAV and I'm curious about the Claymore mine, was this mounted on the actual vehicle and if so where was it mounted and what was used to stop the backblast from denting the vehicle hull?

There were never any claymore mines mounted on vehicles that I've ever seen because of the backblast issue you mention.

No, that is a glitch on my end. The squad inside can carry claymores, LAW, or a recoiless rifle. I will fix for 2.09. Thanks for catching that.

There is a post I saw on another sight with claymores on open boxes around the base of a M113 like vehicle in dessert camo. Probably Israeli.

Yea I think I've seen something similar with M113 in Vietnam , looks almost like a last ditch defensive measure, thought there might of been some way to mount one and deflect the backblast

An improvised defensive tactic for recon units in a hide was to place a claymore on top of the APC and button up. Offically this was forbidden because if detonated the blast would blow the vehicles antenna away and leave the crew without communication. But I suppose if the enemy infantry were inside your perimeter you'd probably prefer to argue about that after you reached the emergency RV.

The trick being they should be carried and listed with the troops and not a vehicle mounted system. Fixed for 2.09.
