War In The East Upgrade?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

War In The East Upgrade?

Now that War In The West is out (and it looks great), is there any chance that War In The East will be updated to the new War In The West engine?

It will come but it will also take a lot of time to implement new functions and new research regarding units and production.
You should test WitE 1.08 to have a look at the improvements made with new functions and new data.
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

Yes the new beta 1.8.01 has really improved the game. If you not played in a while you should give it a go again.

First time I read one of the threads listed above I got the impression that there would eventually be a War In Europe game covering 39-45 but now I understand they only consider different parts of the war, early, mid, late and east. I guess a complete Europe game would be too difficult too balance.

I can't find the thread, but i believe they said they might try to connect all the different modules of the game into a complete War in Europe. Of course that would be a long way down the road.

War in the East 2.0 is easier to accomplish because we don't need to implement a completely new naval system, one can't model the naval actions in european waters using the current abstract naval model.

Yea, they said they'd like to make a giant War in Europe game that would cover everything. Obviously a very long ways away

I would love to see an upgraded UI and streamlining of WitP. I know, not on the agenda.
