Rebasing 8th air force?

Just curious, what is the rationale, if any for rebasing the big bombers to France?

I mean, they have the range to reach every where pretty much. IS there a reason to rebase? Did they historically move to France?

The reason I ask, is because I have troubles getting the airbases in France, Low countries and Germany up to a reasonable TOE and supply level which means the groups in them pretty much suck.

And to that, can someone explain the best way to get captured airfields up and running? My method is:

1- have them set to supply 4 and TOE 80

2- Have a depot within a hex or two at at least level 2 if in the rear or 4 if at the front


Thats all I know to do. Is there something else to do to get them going? I have bases that are in total supply that have 0 TOE even though set at 100.

Historically they didn't move and moving them would be a huge logistical burden on the Allies in France.

Any gem of knowledge on how to get airbases up and running? Am I doing the best route or is there some magic formula?
